The alarm rang as Harriet groaned rolling on her bed to switch off the disturbing noise as she didn’t want to interrupt her sleep
One would think Harriet Philp lived a perfect life but that wasn’t the case .
The Alarm rang for the second time and she murmured standing up to switch it off . She stopped when she saw the photo frame staring at her it held the photo of her beloved “Zack Noah” he’s cheesy smile and soft curls laid back as he smiled to the camera .
She tried recalling what must of led to this cheerful smile as she zoned in her thought
‘Zack come on just a shot ’ she pleaded
‘You know I don’t like taking pictures ‘ Zack replied moving he’s head from the camera
“Please ‘ I tried giving the puppy dog eyes
‘ Harrietta’ he groaned
We both knew how I hated being called harrietta as I would rather be called Harriet or harry but he insisted on calling me Harrietta which I had come to terms with so he was basically the only one who called me that
‘Please please please I would crawl for an autograph ‘ she pleaded to tease him
He burst into a fit of laughter as I sneakily took the shot
‘Wow’ I said showing him the pictures as we smiled
‘ my new wallpaper ’I added as I quickly changed the wallpaper on my phone
I hadn’t realized I had zoned out till there was a knock on the door and I noticed that I had been crying
Wiping my tears “come in “ I called
“Ma’am your breakfast is ready ” Greta my housekeeper walked in with a tray of food
“Thank you “ I replied
After eating her breakfast she dressed in a pair of Baggy joggers and Oversized T shirt tying her hair in ponytail as she moved to her mother's shop
She barely communicated with people and was regarded as the muted one, she hardly relates to people after the incident that took place
She moved from a different therapist but she couldn’t seem to heal properly
“Darling Welcome dear come meet my friends ” her mum greeted the moment she stepped into the shop
This was the main reason she barely liked coming here it was always a meet-and-greet session for her mum to her friends.
Her mother always wanted to paint the perfect picture family to her friends using her as a perfect bait
They kept commending on my dressing asking if I was going for a run and decided to check up on my mother .
“ no she must have gone on a run my princess is a fashion queen” my mum said smiling broadly trying to lie through her teeth
After the meeting I sat down waiting for my mum
“Why Harriet, must you disgrace me can’t you dress well the least you could do was dress appropriately not like some abandoned hoodlum ” she complained
“ don’t start now mother please ” I replied
“ I shouldn’t start now ? Why can’t you just be those normal children why must you be this way therapist visitation , drugs, baggy outfits and remaining mute I raised you better than this young lady ” she ranted walking out
I never replied whenever she yelled at me and seemed to get on her nerves more
I watched as she laughed with her group of fake friends probably discussing on house parties and latest fashion trends
“Hey Harriet” my cousin Cassy greeted she could be sassy and spoilt but she was misunderstood
Although we weren’t close but she held a close place to my heart and I interacted with her once in a while
After exchanging pleasantries I picked up my bag and headed home
At home I attended my evening online class I couldn’t attend physical class anymore
Watching my mates talk about the adventures hurt me most times especially when they say
“Harriet you won’t understand ” they would chorus whenever I asked questions
Later that evening I had my dinner and dressed into my pajamas as I laid to sleep
I sobbed crying hard as the memories never stop no matter the amount of therapists I visited and pills I took to forget I would always feel the pain
Feel the presence, hear his words, the smile, laughter never seems to leave my mind
Picking up the photo frame I hugged it tightly on my chest as I cried the memories clouding my mind.
