The plan has been made but not yet put in motion. Cassy has really been of help and I’m glad that I confided in her. Cassy also said she wanted to get her revenge on Stephen Mario because of a history they both had together which she refused to talk about.

Entering my house I climbed upstairs heading to my room.

“Young lady, this has to stop you can’t make me search for you all around Preparations have started we are going Wedding shopping soon .” Mother said

“All arrangements should stop mother, I won’t be getting married ” I replied rudely

I saw the shocked expression on her face cause she wasn’t expecting a rude reply from me.

“Why would you speak to your mother that way Harriet !” My father said stepping in

“Of course Father, you are here to save your queen then boom you are gone for more business deals, as usual, having no time for anyone. I hope your queen told you already that I won’t be going through with this wedding. You know what? Most times I wish I wasn’t born into this family because all I do is act out my life like a script

I have no opinion of my own, the only opinion I had was to date Zack, and guess we all know what happened ” I snapped

Taking a deep breath I continued.

“Since the incident with Zack, I have not heard one condolence from both of you and you are concerned about getting me married off. Business deals that’s all it has been for you and hiding the fact that I take pills to help myself regain. I’m a burden right ?! ” Getting no response from them I said

“Exactly that’s what I thought I’m a burden say it with your full chest and don’t use marriage as an excuse to get rid of me,” I said walking out

Glancing back, I could see the shocked expression on their faces cause I haven’t had an outburst in a long time. I had to do this because my parents needed someone to match their character in order to get what I want

Whispering this word I said “Oh Zack, I wish you were here with me ”

I was interrupted by the sound of my phone ringing, I picked it up answering with looking at the caller ID

“Hello ” I answered

“Hey Fiancée ” I heard the voice that literally was the cause of my problems

“What do you want Mario,” I asked

“At least the princess knows my voice. Dress up we have a shoot to announce our engagement Harriet ” he replied arrogantly

“Mario find something better to do with your life being a Pest doesn’t suit you ” I replied ending the call

This was who my parents wanted me to spend my entire life with, Someone who wouldn’t miss a chance to insult and humiliate me at every given chance .

I heard the door opening as Greta walked in but to my surprise she had no tray in her hands .

“Harriet it’s been long I heard you talk for long ” she said smiling

“I know ma’am Greta they just keep annoying me every-time. I mean everyone can’t keep disregarding me like I don’t have feelings ” I said

“Harriet I always wanted to have this conversation with you . I’m glad that I can see you talking and fighting for yourself , I was so scared that you would be badly affected and I know that whatsoever hurt you in the past must have left a scar .

I want you to know that the brave girl I raised and taught how to bake cakes is so strong that nothing can bring her down because you are a winner Dear ” she said hugging me

Laying my head on her thigh she ran her fingers through by hair

“It’s been long since you held me this close Greta Ma , I’m sorry I have been rude to you this few years I was so depressed what am I saying ? I’m still depressed I feel like the shadows of my past keep reflecting and trailing me I don’t think it can stop ”I said

“ I know you have more than a lot to say but I want you to know you are a winner my love and you will keep winning . Now I want you to smile for you ” she replied

Smiling at her comforting words I felt contented for the first time in the arms of an elderly person .

With her hands running through my hair I felt at peace .
