Brandon was halfway there when the lights suddenly dimmed.
A spotlight shone on the front of the venue.
"Hello and welcome to my daughter Fiona's 23rd birthday party. I want to thank you all for coming."
Unconsciously, the eyes of the guests looked ahead, and Ann was no exception.
Looking at the elegant Fiona, she took a light sip of her red wine.
"We are all relatives and friends here today, so I won't say more polite words. Be sure to eat more and have fun! I now declare the dance to begin."
Fiona glanced coyly at Brandon nearby.
Fiona's father understood her daughter's mind.
"It's an honor to have Mr. Evans with us today. Now, Mr. Evans will lead the opening dance for us."
The lights dimmed and soothing music began to play.
All eyes were on Brandon. Today's opening dance was between him and Fiona, which made a lot of sense.
Ann squinted at him standing in the middle of the hall, her expression was implacable.
Brandon was even angrier when he saw that she was indifferent.
In Fiona look forward to the eyes, Brandon a few strides to Ann in front of all people unexpected, a will pull her into the dance floor.
When Ann reacted, she found her body pressed against his. She was forced to follow his steps.
She made an effort to free herself.
But the physical disparity between men and women is innate. She struggled with all her might, but to no avail.
She clenched her teeth and said, "Let me go!"
Brandon twirled, his arms on her waist tightened slightly, and then pressed closer together.
"If you can break it, you can try."
His implication was that there was no way he would let go.
Ann's face was black with anger.
Did he really think she had nothing to do with him? !
With a cold snort, she lifted her foot and slammed the heel of her high shoe into his expensive handmade leather shoes.
Unsurprisingly, she heard the man gasp in pain.
Brandon was blue in the face, but he kept on dancing.
He looked down at her delicate collarbone, and the obscene words of the man rang in his mind again. His anger flared up.
"Ann, are you so short of men? ! Who are you trying to hook up with dressed like that? !"
Ann stiffened and bit her lip. Her heart felt like a needle.
But the next moment, she's laughing her heart out, "I'm not going to hook up with you."
"Ann! You......"
"We're all adults and it's normal to have physical needs. Someone like you, who has no shortage of women around, ought to know better."
Ann sneered at the man who wanted to strangle her.
Brandon, who are you to judge me for hooking up? ! Even if I did hook up, it had nothing to do with you!
Turning around, Ann saw Fiona with white face.
"You'd better let go of me," she sneered. Or your fiancee will get the wrong idea about my relationship with you. I don't want to be accused of something I didn't do, even if you don't mind."
"She is not my fiancee! I have no fiancee!"
"You don't have to talk to me, your ex-fiancee. I'm not interested in your affairs."
After the end of the song, they stopped dancing.
Ann saw the timing, pushed Brandon hard, turned and ran away.
Brandon was caught off guard and staggered, taking several steps back to collect himself.
But a second later, he went out after Ann.
Fiona stomped her feet in anger. Her eyes were red as she tugged at the chairman's sleeve.
Ann repressed the emotions surging in her chest and just wanted to get away from that man.
Walked out of the meeting hall not two steps, behind the man closely followed over, the same trick, will her against the wall of the corridor.
"Brandon! You let go, if you don't let go, I'll call security!"
"I'm not holding your mouth. Suit yourself."
Ann's chest heaved with anger. "What do you want? !"
"Why did you come back? Why did you come back suddenly? ! Tell me!"
Ann stopped struggling and her angry expression faded from her face. She raised her eyes to his deep, mournful eyes.
"Brandon, you don't know why I came back!"
"You..."
“I can't forget you! I like you so much. I had a crush on you for four years in college. Now you ask me why I came back? Don't you know about it?"
Ann's eyes were red. There was mist in her eyes, and the way she tried not to cry upset Brandon.
"Ann, I..."
His grip on her wrist loosened, his brow furrowed, and for a moment he did not know what to do.
He wanted to hold Ann in his arms, some words uncontrollable, want to blurt out.
His body moved, and her voice, with a smile, rang out.
"Are you satisfied with my answer? If you don't like it, I can do it again."
Brandon went pale. "What did you say? ! Say it again!"
Ann raised her eyebrows slightly and said in a slow voice, "You asked me why I came back to China again and again, just to make sure I still have feelings for you and to determine how attractive you are, right?"
"If you don't like it, I can be a little more affectionate. You can make me cry till my eyes are full, so long as your vanity is satisfied, so long as you don't bother me again and again.
Brandon's face was cold. Watching her lips open and close, he could only think of one thing: to shut her up, not to hear another word from her.
That's what he thought, and he did.
He looked down and almost bit Ann's lip, biting like a wild animal.
The clapping broke out.
Brandon's face twisted to one side. The skin on the right side of his face was red in a large patch, with several visible blood marks on it.
"Brandon! I am not the Ann I was three years ago! Not the Ann that you can give a look at on a whim and go around you like a lap dog!"
The burning pain in Brandon's face brought him to his senses. He looked blankly at Ann.
With a shiver, he couldn't believe the hate he saw in Ann's eyes.
She was staring at him with that hateful look in her eyes.
How could Ann hate him?
After a long time, when Brandon came to his senses, Ann had already left. He tightened his bloodless lips, turned and strode away.
The corridors were quiet again.
A man came out of the next stairwell, dropped his fingertip white cigarette butt on the ground, and crushed it with his foot.
The man narrowed his eyes and watched with interest the direction in which Ann was leaving.
"Her name is Ann, right? Ha ha ha... She seems like an interesting woman..."
