The result was unexpected. He expected Brandon to come in a huff, but he just got up with a cold face and left the Sunshine Cafe without a word.
Gavin looked at Ann's side and got up to leave too.
Ann froze for a few seconds before she came back to her senses and quickly turned away.
"Thanks, I'll do it myself."
Eddie was not embarrassed to see Ann, who had taken another piece of paper to wipe. He withdrew his hand naturally.
"Are you so surprised by what I just said about love at first sight?"
Ann looked at Eddie and said, "Have you ever said that to all women you’ve met?"
Maybe it's true what Eddie said about love at first sight, but it's too much.
"You don't believe me?"
"Do you expect me to believe that?”
There was silence for a few seconds, and Then Eddie chuckled. "I was right. You're a very interesting woman. Believe me or not, I just want to say that I am serious about this blind date."
"Mr. Clinton, I..."
"I always think it's too strange to call you Ms. Wilson. I'll call you Ann. I'll call you Ann from now on."
"No, I..."
"It's getting late. Ann, you must not have had lunch yet. Come on, I know a good French restaurant. I'll take you to dinner."
Ann watched Eddie pick up her bag and didn't give her a chance to refuse.
She secretly sighed, in order to explain to the family, she had to agree.
Out of the Sunshine Cafe, Ann left in Eddie's car.
Brandon stared at the car as it sped away, his face horribly gloomy.
Moments later, he took out his cell phone and dialed his assistant's number.
"Look into Eddie right now!"
"Sir, you want me to look into him..."
"Look into him and Ann..." Brandon paused. After a few seconds he shouted angrily, "All! You need to find out everything you can about him, especially who he's been hanging out with! I want the results in two hours!"
"Yes, I see."
After hanging up the phone, Brandon bent his eyes slightly. Eddie rubbed the corners of Ann's mouth in his mind again and again, as if a fire was burning in his heart.
Fretfully, he slammed his phone into the passenger seat and banged on the steering wheel.
"Damn it! This is the kind of guy she wants to get involved with. He is known as a jerk in City A. Doesn't she know that at all? !"
...
8:00 p.m., Wilson’s villa.
"You can park right here. My house is right up ahead. Thank you very much for driving me back."
Eddie stopped the car and clicked the phone several times. Ann's phone ring started to ring, but stopped after the first ring.
"Your missed call was my number. I'll keep in touch."
"By the way, Ann, I want to tell you again that I am serious about this blind date. I think we're a good match, and I'm officially courting you as of today."
Ann frowned, not taking Eddie seriously. She said goodbye, opened the door and got out.
Watching Eddie's car disappear at the corner of the intersection, Ann let out a long sigh and looked tired on her delicate face.
Only a few days after returning to China, she felt that everything was not going well.
She turned to walk home when she felt a strong squeeze on her wrist. Before she could cry out in pain, she was pinned to the wall by the roadside.
She looked up to see Brandon's magnifying face and the rich smell of alcohol.
"What are you out of your mind? Let go of me!"
Brandon ignored Ann's struggle, his deep eyes brimming with rage.
"You're dating Eddie, aren't you? !"
Ann's heart was shocked and she looked surprised. Why would he know that?
Brandon grabbed her wrist and squeezed it so hard he could have broken her hand.
"You had coffee, you had dinner, and you ended up going to the movies. You seem to be getting along well. Are you happy with Eddie? And then you wanna get to be with him? ! Huh?"
Facing Brandon's words, Ann turned white and blue and bit her lip.
"Don't you think you're overreaching? Does it have anything to do with you who I go on blind dates with?"
Brandon gave a furious chuckle. "Ha... Ok, ok, let's see how good you and Eddie can be together."
"In the name of getting to know each other, I'm going to give you some news. Do you really think you're hot enough to bring Eddie back?"
Under Brandon's mocking eyes, Ann pursed her lips tightly.
"I'm telling you, Peter is very sick. He told Eddie that if he wants to get shares in his company, he has to stop being such a lothard and marry a woman."
Eddie emphasized over and over again today that he was serious.
It turns out he was serious, even if it wasn't love at first sight.
Seeing Ann unmoved, Brandon's heart seemed to be clenched by invisible hands, and he was suffocating.
"Ann, don't you understand what I'm saying? ! Eddie just needs a woman to act in front of his father. Even if you could be engaged to him or married to him now, when his father dies, you'll only be abandoned by him like all the women he's ever played with."
Brandon really wanted to grab Ann by the neck and ask her if she knew what Eddie was like! A lot of women try to avoid him. She's good. She's not afraid to go towards him.
Ann pulled herself out of her thoughts, calmed herself, and asked coolly, "So what? Does it concern you?"
Brandon was too angry to speak, watching Ann in front of him.
Frowning, she pulled back her grip and pushed Brandon, who was following her closely, away.
"Yes, I admit I liked you before, and clung shamelessly to you. I'm sorry for what I've done, for causing you so much trouble these last four years."
Ann said seriously, "I'm sorry."
Her seemingly sincere apology did not please Brandon, whose deep eyes grew darker and darker.
"You won't have to ask me again and again why I came back. You can rest assured that I will never cause you any more trouble. I'll try to stay out of your presence. I just want to share the burden of work with my parents."
Ann's eyes met Brandon's without timidity.
That is why she came back to China. She just wanted to live her own life, and do not want to be involved in any relationship with the man in front of her.
