"Ann? Ann? Wake up, wake up..."
After a few words, she didn’t answer. Brandon's heart gave a jolt, and a blur of confusion appeared in his dark eyes.
He bent down, picked up Ann, and strode toward the door.
After a few steps he stopped dead, with an expression of indescribable embarrassment.
Brandon listened to Ann's light snore. It turned out that his worry was unnecessary, because he found that Ann just fell asleep.
He put her back on the sofa and took the blanket from the sofa and covered Ann. Brandon squatted down and fixed his intricate gaze on the sleeper.
His face was no longer the sardonic face of the two men.
"You can sleep anywhere. How tired you are..."
Brandon touched a pale black patch under her eye with his long fingers, and there was a hint of regret on his face.
...
Ann took the pregnancy test sheet, standing in the strange foreign street, delicate face as white as white paper.
The tangled voices of men and women played over and over in her head.
"Hurry up. I'm busy. What do you want? Did you call me back to tell me you were so happy abroad?"
"Brandon, how long do you want me to wait for you now that I've showered? Come on..."
A sound of rustling clothes falling, the man ambiguous tone, "lovely, and wait a sec, I will come right away."
The man's merciless voice made Ann's dry lips move and a stiff "Yes" came out.
"Ann! You......"
With a bitter smile on her lips and tears in her eyes, Ann shouted in an almost mournful voice, "Yes! That's right! After three months in America, I finally realized how stupid I had been. I know now that I'm happy without you! The world is full of men who are better than you. I wish I had wasted four years on you!"
There was silence for a long time, and then the phone rang 'beep beep'.
Ann looked down at the pregnancy test sheet and walked on distractedly.
The baby was three months old. This was her baby with Brandon.
Suddenly, a shrill trumpet sounded. Ann looked up and saw a car coming straight at her.
Ann could not make any reaction before the car hit her.
Her body flew off and landed heavily on the ground a metre away.
There were exclamations and a jumble of footsteps.
Ann lay on the ground with blood all over her face and pain as if she had been torn. Her vision was a blur, only a faint red light.
Her lips twitched and a tiny voice said, "Help... My baby..."
"Save my... Baby, please... Save my child..."
As the sky brightened outside the window, Brandon was awakened by a small, anguished sound in his ear.
As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw Ann lying on the sofa frowning tightly, with dense sweat on her forehead, saying something in pain.
"Save... My...Child... Save......"
Brandon couldn't hear what she was saying in her nightmare. He tried yelling, but she didn't wake up. He could only shake Ann by the shoulder.
"Wake up! Ann, wake up!"
Ann suddenly sat up on the sofa with her eyes wide open, apparently still in the nightmare. She bit her bloodless lip tightly, her chest heaved and heaved, her thin body still trembling.
"Are you having a bad dream?"
Ann heard Brandon's voice and looked up at him suddenly. She couldn't tell reality from dreams, and her eyes were full of hate.
Brandon was dazed by a look of deja vu. Ann slapped him the other day, and she had the same look in her eyes.
"Ann, wake up, you are not having a nightmare now, you..."
"Get lost! Don't touch me!"
Ann knocked Brandon's outstretched hand away. His face fell with him.
"Is that how you should treat hotel guests? Huh? Manager Wilson."
Ann suddenly came to her senses. She bit her lip and lowered her eyes to hide the raging emotions in her eyes.
"I'm sorry, but I'm not feeling well. I'll arrange someone else for the cleaning."
Looking at her with white face and hurrying to leave, Brandon's eyes darkened and grabbed Ann's white wrist with all his strength.
"You're just going away? You fell asleep in the middle of cleaning last night. Shouldn't you have picked up where you left off last night? As an irresponsible lobby manager, aren't you afraid to tarnish the image of your hotel?"
The scene was clear and picturesque in her mind, and Ann could not restrain her chest resentment.
She turned, shook Brandon's hand away, looked him in the eye, and said through gritted teeth, "Whatever you want! If you want to complain to the department, you do it! What magazine are you writing for? Go ahead! No one's stopping you. If you really don't like your stay, you should check out now and get out. There are thousands of hotels in City B. You can go wherever you like!"
After being yelled at in the face, Brandon looked terrible.
"Do you really think I dare not?"
Ann smiled sarcastically, "Of course you do, what else in the world are you afraid of? Have you ever done less with your family power and your bullying? Do you want me to tell you all about it now?"
Brandon was horribly sinister in his eyes. He looked straight at Ann and could hear his fist clenching like a bone.
The depressed atmosphere was broken by a knock at the door.
"Manager Wilson, are you in there?"
Ann glanced at Brandon and went to open the door. There was Lena standing at the door.
"Well, what’s the matter?"
Lena stole a glance at Brandon, who looked cold, and hurriedly withdrew her eyes in fear. She lowered her head and whispered uncomfortably, "Harry is looking for you. He wants to formally introduce you to all the hotel staff this morning. I went to your room and knocked, and there was no answer, so I thought you might still be here, so I came to see."
Ann collected her emotions and nodded gently, "I know, I will go back to my room to change my clothes."
Ann went out of the room, took two steps, and stopped again.
"Ask Housekeeping to send someone up to clean room 103. If he needs to check out, tell the front Office to do it quickly before wasting his valuable time."
Lena looked at Ann and then Brandon in disbelief and said "OK".
The door of the room closed. Brandon swept papers and notebooks off the desk in front of him and punched the sofa in anger and frustration.
Ann appeared in his mind again and again with hateful eyes.
Why does she hate me?
And what kind of nightmare did she just have? She looks miserable. Is this about him?
