XAVIER’S POV

I smiled to myself again as I remembered hugging Eva.

Anyone who sees me now will think I’ve finally gone mad because of how I was smiling at myself like a goat.

My phone vibrated bringing me out of my thoughts.

I never wanted to answer because it was an unknown number but I decided to pick up.

“Hello” I answered.

“Hi, Xavier” A feminine voice hit my ear.

“ Who are you and how come you know my name?” I asked.

“Nah nah,I think your question should be; why did I call you? ”The voice said.

“”I don’t even know who you are” I replied.

“Well, I’ll skip your question and answer the one I brought up” The voice replied.

“ I know you’re handling the case about the assassin and I can really be of great help to you, you know” The voice continued.

“ And how sure am I about that?” I asked.

“Well let’s say because I know everything about this enemy of yours and if you think I’m still lying, how about you try this;

“Today at midnight, go to Mr. Alphonso’s apartment around 1:30am tomorrow and bet me you’ll find who you’ve been long looking for” The voice said.

“ You can thank me later but for now I’ve got to go” The voice added and ended the call.

THE NEXT DAY

ALEXA’S POV

I got ready for my mission which is to kill Mr. Alphonso.

I seriously hate that man because he’s a very proud and arrogant pig.

I guess now is the time to teach him a lesson.

I sneaked out of the window quietly and headed to my apartment to get my bike.

Thank goodness my leg is okay now, even though am still leaping a little bit.

I was already done dealing with that arrogant pig and after separating parts of his body, I sneaked out through the window.

I took a few step to where I kept my bike when;

“Freeze” I head a voice say.

I turned and saw Xavier was pointing a gun at me.

My heart skipped immediately.

What the fuck is Xavier doing here?

How on earth did he knew I was here?

I looked around and saw that he had backups and all of them were pointing their gun at me.

I raised my hand in form of a surrender and when they all started moving closer, I quickly released all my hidden blade which stabbed most of them.

I aimed another blade at Xavier but he dodged it.

I used the opportunity to hop on my bike and drove off.

Xavier released a bullet and I almost dodged it but I guess it was too late because the bullet went straight into my right arm.

I groaned in pain but made sure I didn’t loose my balance on the bike.

I increased the speed and soon I was out of their sight.

I headed to our hide out.

Immediately I arrived Veera was the first person I saw.

“Alexa what happened to you, you’re bleeding?” She asked immediately on seeing me.

I slumped to one of the sofa still groaning in pain.

“I got shot” I replied and Vera gasped.

“What? How is that even possible” She asked in disbelief.

“I dunno” I replied.

“Okay, stay here, I’ll be right back” She said and left.

I used my left hand to cover where I was shot because I was bleeding a lot.

“Jeez, what happened to you?” I heard a voice say, making me turn and I saw Jace approaching.

“ You got shot” He questioned in shock.

Well I don’t blame him anyway.

I’ve never been shot on a mission before, so I guess he was surprised.

“How did it happen?” He asked and Veera appeared carrying some stuff.

“What are you gonna do to her?” Jace asked her.

“Operate on her. I need to bring out the bullet”Veera answered.

“ But you don’t have any equipment for the operation ”Jace implied.

“ I know but I have to use this one, so step aside let me do my work” She replied.

“ Listen Alexa, this is gonna hurt a lot but you have to endure” Veera said and I nodded.

She brought out a knife and used it to cut open the place I was shot.

Anybody in my shoes would have passed out cause of the pain but I have to endure even though the pain was unbearable.

I felt like screaming in pain but I had to hold myself from doing so.

She brought out the bullet and started stitching my flesh.

Soon she was done and she flashed me a smile.

“You are really strong, Alexa” She complimented, patting my shoulder.

“Boss wanna talk to you” Jace said and I stood up and headed to Boss’ room even though I was feeling extremely weak.

“How are you doing now?” Boss asked.

“ A little bit better” I replied.

“ How did it happen?” Boss asked.

“I don’t know how Xavier figured out that I was at Mr. Alphonso’s residence. I was done with my mission and was about leaving but I got surrounded” I replied.

“ Someone is leaking our secret” Boss said and I totally agree with him.

There is no way Xavier would have known if no one told him.

And I think I know who is leaking our secret but I don’t wanna tell Boss about it, not until I’ve gotten enough evidence.

“I want you to figure out who’s responsible but for the mean time, you won’t carry out any mission” Boss said.

“ But boss….

“No buts Alexa, you’ll do as I say. You’ll also need to be extremely careful, Xavier shouldn’t suspect anything. “Boss insisted.

“ Okay” I mumbled, a little bit disappointed.

“You should go get enough sleep” Boss added and I left.

I went back to the sofa and rested my head.

“I brought you food” Jace said and I collected the bowl of food from him and started eating.

“Alexa” Jace called and I looked up.

“Your wrist” He said in shock.

“What happened to my wrist? “I asked looking at my wrist and I froze instantly.

“My bracelet” I exclaimed.

“Fuck. It must have fallen off your hand” Jace cursed and I hate to admit the fact that he’s right.

If Xavier sees that bracelet then I’m doomed.

XAVIER’S POV

I starred at the bracelet again trying to recall where I saw it before.

Aha! Eva!

I’ve seen this bracelet on Eva before.

But wait, what does this mean?

Is Eva the assassin?

“Nah, that’s not possible” I shrugged the thought off my mind.

Eva can’t be the assassin and I don’t want her to be.

But why does the assassin have the same bracelet with her?

Okay, calm down Xavier, you shouldn’t panic yet.

I’ll ask her about it tomorrow.

NEXT MORNING

I was done preparing breakfast when I heard footsteps approaching.

“Good morning” I greeted immediately I saw Eva and as usual she ignored.

“What’s for breakfast?” She asked instead.

“Some creaser salads” I replied.

“ Are you done, I’m starving” She asked.

“ Yep.. “I replied and my eyes landed on her wrist and to my surprise………her bracelet was gone.

I’ve never seen her remove her bracelet and now she isn’t putting it on.

My heart stopped beating immediately.

Is it possible that Eva is the ASSASSIN?

I gulped down nothing.

I was already feeling nervous and sweats were already forming on my forehead.

I brought out the bracelet and waved it before her.

“Is this yours?” I asked trying to study her reaction.

I was expecting her to look shocked or nervous but she was totally cool.

She looked at me then back to the bracelet.

“No” She replied plainly and went back to eating her food.

“But I’ve seen you with this bracelet before and you’ve never for once removed it but surprisingly you’re not putting it on today” I said, still studying her reaction.

“ Well, it’s not mine” She replied dipping her hand inside her pants pocket.

To my surprise, she brought out exactly the same bracelet and showed it to me.

“This is mine” She added.

I examined the two bracelet and they looked exactly the same.

I heaved out a sign of relief.

Thank goodness my doubt were wrong.

“But wait, where did you get this bracelet from?” Eva asked.

“ From the assassin” I replied and she almost choked.

“You’ve found the assassin?” She exclaimed, her eyes widened in shock.

“ Where is she?” She asked.

“I lost her” I replied with a sigh and her face squeezed in a frown.

“Seriously?” She asked with folded arms.

“Yep” I replied and started digging in.

“Wait a minute..when did you cross part with the assassin because as far as I can remember, we haven’t met her yet” Eva questioned

“ Last night” I replied.

“ What! You went on a mission without me?” She half yelled.

“ You’ve got a broken leg, I didn’t want to stress you out” I replied.

“ Listen, as you can see my legs are perfectly okay, so that’s not an excuse” She snapped.

“ It was a dangerous mission, I had to call for back up” I replied, trying to reason with her.

“ Oh please, don’t tell me that. I knew this mission was a dangerous one before I accepted it at the first place” She hissed.

“ Oh, I see. So you called those who you feel are important to you and capable to join you, unlike me” She added and stood up to leave.

Awwch,that hurts.

I grabbed her by her wrist and pulled her closer.

“Listen Eva, you’re more important to me than anything I can think of. Even though I don’t know how but that’s the truth. Two people in our crew died and six hospitalized because the assassin released some hidden blade which stabbed them. Now tell me, what if you came along and ended up been stabbed, do you think I can forgive myself for it?” I asked and her expression changed.

She became more relaxed than before.

I was still staring into those captivating eyes of hers to know what she’ll do.

“Whatever” She said and pushed me off.

“How were you able to track down her location?.” She asked changing the topic.

“ Someone informed me about it” I replied.

“Who?”

“An unknown number” I replied.

“Have you tracked down the owner of the number? “She asked.

“ No yet” I replied.

“ Then let’s go do that now. Hope you recorded the conversation? “She asked.

“ Yes” I replied.

“ Good. Then let’s go, the owner of that voice can be of good help to us” She said.

“Erm… After am done eating” I said.

“ Nope, now” She replied and dragged me up.

“ But…….

“No buts, you can eat later, that’s your punishment for going on a mission without me” She snapped and dragged me along.

We headed to my agents room here in Orlando.

After transferring the recording to the voice tracker and started searching thoroughly, two matches were shown.

“This two people matches with the voice. One is an event planner, Katherine Carlo, which I don’t think is the owner” Eva explained.

“ But option B might go as well; Sophia Carsiolo, Age:26. A jewel thief and a wanted criminal” Eva added.

“ Her location? “I asked.

“ She lives at House No 10024 in Sylvia Ln”She answered.

“ Let’s go” She added.

“ Erm…. After am done eating” I reminded.

“Whatever, I’ll go change then” She said and left.

ALEXA’S POV( EVA)

I knew Sophia was the one who was linking my secret and she only did that because she wanted me to be captured, so that boss can replace me with her.

Stupid fool!.

Now I’m gonna teach her a very tough lesson.

We already arrived at her house and hid behind one of the flowers surrounding her front yard.

After what seemed like 5mins,she came out carrying a bag with her face covered with a mask that only left her eyes visible.

“Freeze” Xavier said stepping out and I followed suit.

“Don’t try to move” Xavier said pointing a gun at her.

I walked up to her and when she was about calling my name, I sent her a hard punch which made her collapse to the ground.

“Help me get her to the car” I said to Xavier who was already staring with his lips parted.

“That was quick” He muttered.

When we got home, I tied Sophia up in one of the empty room.

I poured her a bowl of cold water, making her jerk up immediately.

“Where am i?” She asked looking around.

“Oh, so you’re awake. Well let me introduce myself. I am Eva Alajandro and he is Xavier Giovanni and we’re F. B. I agents”I replied with a smirk.

She gave me a puzzled look but I shot a warning glare making her look away.

Good thing she understands.

I approached her and squatted.

I grabbed her chin tightly as she groan in pain.

“Listen Sophia, you better keep your mouth shut and don’t even try to disclose any information about me to Xavier. Because right now Boss is looking for you to kill you but I saved your life, so you better cooperate” I whispered warned her.

“ And don’t try to act smart, cause I got my eyes on you, understood?” I asked and she nodded.

“ You’re gonna stay here until you tell us all you know about the assassin and you better cooperate or I’ll make your life a living hell” I said loud enough for Xavier to hear.

“ Let’s go” I said and both of us left.

This is gonna be so much fun.

I’m gonna deal with Sophia, not as Alexa….but as Eva, an F.B.I agent and I’m gonna make sure she begs for death herself……………
