Class went smooth and soon it was time for basketball practice, I ran off to the boys' changing took immediately the bell went off

I met my friends already joined and hurried then we went to the court together. When I entered I never expected what I saw, my sister was there with that silly friend of hers and a guy.

They seemed carried away in their conversation because my sister and her friend were laughing their ass out

"Who's that guy" I asked my friends

"Well, he's the new transferred guy and he's also on the basketball team" Derrick answered. I trust him because he knows of all the latest news and gists in the school and sometimes I wonder why he wasn't a girl

"And how come he got so acquainted with your sister and her friend in no time" Mason questioned his eyes never leaving the trio at the other end of the room

"How do you expect me to know and I've been grateful lately because ever since she became friends with that girl, I've been at peace" I said sounding grateful

"Whatever" Mason rolled his eyes and walked away

Just when I was about to walk away, I saw Avery's friend hug the guy and I don't know why but my chest tightened hard at the sight I saw

I waved it off but was still feeling annoyed. We assembled on the court and began to play then I noticed the guy was really good but I was more experienced. I saw my sister and her friend cheering loudly for the guy and I felt slightly jealous

We finished playing and I saw the Avery and her friend run to hug the guy. He caught Avery first then her friend swirling them and making them laugh

"Haaa, you girls are fat and you Kira is the fattest" he said

So her name's Kira, nice name though" I thought

I walked up to them and Kira seemed to see me first and she snorted while I smirked at her

"Hey man, you played so well out there" I said shaking the guy

"Thanks, you weren't so bad either"

"Avery, won't u introduce me to your friends" I said turning to my sister

"Jayden, Kira meet my handsome, hot and best brother. His name's Aiden" she said clinging to me as she did the introduction

"Nice to meet you" Jayden said

"Hmpph, handsome indeed" I heard Kira muttered under her breath

"You saying something, sweetheart" I said winking at her

"Gosh, I hate you" she said as she walked away leaving her friends

"And it's the opposite for me baby because I love you too" I replied

Avery waved and ran after her while Jayden and I walked to the changing room

"Arrrrrrgh, I so much hate that guy. He gets on my nerves at the slightest opportunity he gets" I thought fuming in anger

"You need to wait up Kira, you're too fast" Avery said behind me grunting so I slowed down making her catch up with me

"Damn Kira, I'm outta breath. I need water"

I brought out my bottle and gave it to her while she gulped down the entire content

"Today's Frida and tomorrow's Saturday, are you thinking what I'm thinking" she said after she was ok

"I wouldn't know unless you talk and don't say anything that'd make me crazy" I said staring at her

"Stop being a kill joy Kira, be patient and you'd see my plans good"she said beaming

"Actually, I got the three of us tickets to watch a new movie in the cinema" she said showing me the tickets

My lips stretched and I was smiling then I looked at her

"How did you get them"

"I have my ways Kira" she said winking at me

When she saw I wasn't gonna let it slide easily

"Ohk fine, when I got up yester night and was on the net I saw it and bought three then I got them this morning" she explained

"Hmmmm" I said

Just in time, Jayden showed up and Avery told him what she told me and showed him the tickets. He was so happy and we agreed to meet at Jayden's house by 8 the next day

We all said our goodbyes and then I went to take the bus. I got home early, went up to my room and take a cold shower making me feel refreshed

I didn't want to go down again so I stayed in my room. I took out my laptop and watched some movies, I got bored afterwards and brought out my sketch pad.

I sketched out some new designs. I love to sketch alot and I'm so good at it, I've sold most of my sketch to some fashion companies at San Francisco. Mom knew about it and said she'd enroll me in a fashion school after I'm done with high school, I was so happy she supported me and I couldn't be more grateful

By the time I was done, it was already evening so I went downstairs and went to prepare dinner

I decided to make pasta and when I was done, I dished out mine and kept my mum's own in the microwave

While I was eating, my mum walked in full of smiles and I cleared my throat

"Ohh, Kira you're home" she said nervously

"Were you not expecting me back home" I replied sarcastically

"Stop being like that, I was only saying" she said feeling somehow with my response

"I was only joking mom" I said as I noticed her akward state

"And what's with that huge smile on your face when you walked in" I asked

"Did you see me" she said turning crimson red

"Tsk, it was do obvious when you walked in" I said rolling my eyes

She sat down beside me, took my hands and looked deep into my eyes. I could tell she was debating inside her how she'd tell me

"Just get on with it mum, I won't bite"

Feeling rest assured that I won't get annoyed, she started

"For the first time since I started working, I saw my boss today and he was hot and handsome even in his late forties" she explained dreamily

"So???"

"And I felt something for him and it only increased when he offered to drive me home. I kinda felt stupid because I was smiling throughout the ride but I was quick to wave off that feeling when I reasoned that what if he is married and I somehow felt hurt when realization struck me" she said with a defeated look on her face

It took me time to digest all she said. If I'm not happy for her then I'm only being selfish because ever since my dad passed away, she hasn't allowed any man into her life and took it upon herself to take care of me and now that she has finally found someone, I really should support her

I looked up to see her beautiful brown eyes staring at me expecting my reply, I released the breath I didn't know I was holding, tightened my hold on her hand and said

"If he makes you happy mum, you can go for him but first find out about his marital status so you don't have to deal with some crazy woman because if she so much hurt or touch a strand of your hair, she'd have me to deal with"

My mum was so happy with my response and I felt proud of what I said then she hugged me

When we disentangled from the embrace, I went to bring her food and placed it infront of her

"Thanks" she mumbled then started eating

"Mum, I'd be going out tomorrow with Avery and Jayden" I said

"Who's Jayden, It's only Avery I know" she said

"Well he's a new guy in our school and we became friends when he rescued me after that crazy girl finished bullying me"

"You really can't continue this way Akira, you need to change back to yourself and stop all this. I don't like this new you" she said getting teary eyed

"It's not now mum but soon I'd change and would you believe he's also from San Francisco" I told my mum

"Really" she said

I nodded and I explained everything about him to her and when I was done explaining she was done with her food

I packed the plates to the kitchen and washed them after I was done,I joined my mum in the living room and saw her standing in front of my dad's picture crying

Walking up to her, I hugged and consoled her trying to be strong

"It's fine mum, he'd understand and I'm sure he's happy for you wherever he is" I said encouragingly

"Do you think he would be happy" she asked still doubting my words

"Hell yeah mum. He'd be happy you've finally decided to give love another chance" I replied caressing her cheeks

"You're the best daughter anyone would ever wish for" she said hugging me

"I loved him sweetheart, he promised never to leave me but left without saying goodbye. I miss him" she said crying

"Mum, you don't have to do this ok. Just be that strong woman you've always been" I said cleaning her tears

She finally stopped crying, I walked her to her room said goodnight and went to my room
