Reincarnated Mate 4.
The Alpha Cry.
Liam's heart pounded in his chest as he rushed over to Charlotte. Blood soaked her clothes, and her breathing was shallow. His hands trembled as he cradled her in his arms. "Charlotte, stay with me. Please, stay with me," he pleaded, tears streaming down his face.
Charlotte's voice was barely a whisper as she spoke, "I'm sorry, Liam. I didn't mean to let you down. I'm glad that I got to spend my life with you. Thank you for everything." She coughed up blood, and Liam could feel her slipping away.
"No, no, no!" Liam cried out, holding Charlotte tighter as she took her final breath. Her body went limp in his arms, and Liam's world crumbled around him.
He looked up to the sky, letting out a howl of agony that echoed throughout the entire forest. He had lost his mate, his soulmate, his reason for living. He couldn't bear the thought of living without her.
In that moment, Liam knew what he had to do. He carried Charlotte's body to the nearest pack member and gave orders to take her back to their home. He needed to take her to the Moon Goddess.
Liam shifted into his wolf form, Charlotte's body still cradled in his mouth. He ran as fast as he could through the forest, desperate to get to the Moon Goddess's temple. It was his only hope to save her, to bring her back to life.
When he arrived, he set Charlotte's body down gently in front of the Moon Goddess's altar. He howled for her attention, and she appeared before him, her silver hair cascading down her back.
"Liam, my child, what brings you here?" The Moon Goddess asked.
"My mate, Charlotte, she's dead. Please, you have to do something. You have to bring her back," Liam begged, his eyes pleading.
The Moon Goddess looked at Liam with a sorrowful expression. "I'm sorry, Liam, but there's nothing I can do. Charlotte was a human, and as much as I would like to, I cannot bring her back to life. However, I can reincarnate her as a werewolf, but she will have no memory of her past life, including you."
Liam's heart sank as he heard the Moon Goddess's words. He had hoped for a miracle, but there was none. He had to accept that he had lost his mate forever.
He bowed his head and whispered, "Please, do what you can. Bring her back as a werewolf. I don't care if she doesn't remember me, I just want her to have a chance at life."
The Moon Goddess placed her hand on Liam's head and closed her eyes. "I will grant your request, Liam. Charlotte will be reborn as a werewolf. I hope that she finds happiness in her new life."
Liam felt a warmth spread through his body as the Moon Goddess's magic took effect. He felt a connection to Charlotte's soul, and he knew that she was being reincarnated. He didn't know what the future held, but he knew that he would do anything to find her again.
He lifted his head to the sky and let out a mournful howl, one last tribute to his beloved mate. He knew that it was time to move on, to keep Charlotte's memory alive in his heart, and to protect his pack from any danger that may come their way.
Liam shifted back into his human form and walked out of the temple, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
Months passed since Charlotte's death, but Liam's pain and grief did not fade away. The loss of his mate was too much for him to bear, and he found himself becoming a different person. The once compassionate and loving alpha had turned into a cold and ruthless one. His subordinates feared him, and he was harsh with them. His pack was strong, but it was also becoming increasingly isolated and distant from the other packs in the region.
Liam's anger and frustration were directed at the world, and he blamed the other packs for not helping him during the war. He felt like he was alone and had no one to turn to. His pack was all he had, and he would do anything to protect them.
But his behavior did not go unnoticed. His closest advisors and friends saw the change in him, but they didn't know how to help him. Liam was distant and unapproachable, and they didn't want to upset him further.
The pack's morale was low, and Liam's attitude was affecting everyone. They missed the compassionate and caring alpha that they knew, but they were afraid to speak up. His advisors knew that they needed to find a way to help Liam before it was too late.
One day, Liam's closest advisor, Marcus, decided to confront him about his behavior. He knew it was a risk, but he had to try. He approached Liam in his office, where he sat alone with his thoughts.
"Liam," Marcus said firmly, "we need to talk."
Liam looked up, surprised to see his friend in his office. He nodded, gesturing for him to sit down.
"What's on your mind, Marcus?" Liam asked.
"It's about your behavior," Marcus said. "You've become distant and unapproachable. The pack is suffering because of it."
Liam's face hardened, and he leaned back in his chair. "I'm doing what I have to do to protect this pack," he said. "I can't afford to be soft."
"I understand that," Marcus replied. "But you're also pushing people away. Your subordinates fear you, and the other packs are wary of us. We need to find a way to bring everyone back together."
Liam thought for a moment, considering what Marcus had said. He knew that he had been harsh and cold, but he didn't know how to change. Charlotte's death had left a deep wound that he couldn't heal.
"What do you suggest?" Liam asked finally.
"We need to find a way for you to heal," Marcus said. "Maybe you should take some time off, visit some other packs. Get to know some of the other alphas. You don't have to do this alone."
Liam nodded slowly, considering the idea. He knew that he couldn't keep going on like this. He missed Charlotte terribly, but he also knew that he couldn't let her death consume him forever.
"Okay," Liam said, standing up. "I'll think about it. Thank you, Marcus."
As Marcus left, Liam sat back down at his desk, lost in thought. He knew that he had a long road ahead of him, but he also knew that he couldn't do it alone. He missed Charlotte, but he knew that he needed to start living again. For himself, for his pack, and for Charlotte's memory.
