He was always an odd ball his entire life and when he found out about a mate he found meaning in life. Someone out there will love him matter what and that excites him more than anything. But now that day was here excitement was the furthest thing from his mind.
Looking across the table at his idiot brother fueled his anger even more. Miller just had to ruin everything from the moment he was born. Anger boiled in his blood as the glass bottle in his hand shuttered under pressure he was applying.
"Why did you have to go and do that?" Miller asked, annoyed.
Skyler growled low as his eyes glowed golden.
"You just have to ruin everything don't you?" Skyler growled as his body shook in anger.
People began looking around Skyler and Miller's table due to the class shuttering. Isabella rushed to their table to clean up the mess, her floral scent invading Skyler's nostrils. He breathed it in deeply as his wolf calmed down and greedily took in their mates scent.
Miller watched Skyler closely and began to realise what Skyler meant. Miller always had everything handed to him on a silver platter yet Skyler had to fight for anything he wanted and that made Miller feel slightly guilty.
Key word: Slightly
He still hates Skyler so that guilt flew out the window the moment Isabella came to the table. She was like a shiny toy they couldn't keep their eyes off.
"Are you alright sir?" She asked Skyler gently as she saw his hand bleed.
Her voice lit a flame through his body.
"I am thank you," Skyler said with a small smile.
He could already feel his hand healing and that was something he had no interest in explaining to a human. He fisted his hand with the glass still in his palm before he moved his hand to his lap casually.
Isabella was too distracted by his eyes to notice the movement.
"Ouch!" She exclaimed painfully as a piece of glass cut her finger.
Both werewolves whimpered at the sight of their mate in pain. Isabella sucked on her finger before she tried to clear the rest of the broken glass.
"No!" Miller exclaimed as he took the duspin away from her.
"It's ok sweetheart we got this, why don you go clean up your wound." Miller said gently hypnotising her.
"But he's-" she began looking at Skyler.
"I'm ok," Skyler interrupted her as he showed her his healed hand.
She was shocked at the sight before her brain began to piece things together. Clearly she must have missed seeing glass lodged in his palm.
"I'll be right back," she said before she rushed to the bathroom.
Miller cleaned up the glass onto the dustbin and mopped slightly on the floor. Jaws went wide open as they saw such a good looking man cleaning. Skyelr was the most shocked.
"And I hear I thought we're just a rich spoiled brat," Skyler rolled his eyes.
"Look who's talking," Miller fired back with a glare in Skyler's direction.
"Just saying," Skyler shrugged his shoulders as he sat back and watched Miller mop.
"Put a sock in it," Miller rolled his eyes.
"Oh please don't do that," Isabella came back in shock at the sight before her.
"It's alright sweetheart I wasn't raised in a barn like some people," Miller said with a side glance at Skyler.
"Fuck off peanut brain," Skyler said through gritted teeth.
"I'm so sorry for the inconvenience," Isabella began.
"None of this is your fault, it's that gorilla's fault," Skyler said with a scowl aimed at Miller.
Isabella tried to hide her snicker but both the boys heard it and it was the most beautiful sound they had ever heard.
"Are you siblings by any chance?" She asked with a small smile.
"Twins actually," Miller smirked with a wink in her direction.
She blushed as she looked down, before long she had the table cleared.
"Can I get you another drink?" She asked Skyler.
"No I'm alright thank you," Skyler declined politely.
"Ok, is there anything else I can bring for you?" She asked with her heart racing.
The boys focused their hearing to hear her heart race and it was like a lullaby.
"Not at the moment, we're about to leave so just the check." Skyelr said with a forced smile.
Her smile dropped as if disappointed they were going to leave and the boys caught that quick change of emotion. It broke Miller's heart to see her so down and he was sure Skyler was feeling the same.
"When does your shift end?" Miller asked boldly with a charming smile.
Isabella's heart skipped a beat before she stuttered an answer.
"Right," she managed to say while looking down at her feet.
"Great, we'll walk you home then if that's ok with you?" Miller was a bit too forward but then again he didn't know personal boundaries if it hit him in the face.
"Uh thanks," she said awkwardly with her cheeks flustered.
She left to get the check and the moment she entered the kitchen, Skyler shot glares at his brother.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Skyler asked angrily.
"Getting to know our mate, what does it look like I'm doing?" Miller asked with creased brows.
The sound of our mate disgusted Skyler; he wanted nothing more than to claw at his ears.
"You're a fucking phsycho do you know that?" Skyler said blankly.
"Look who's talking," Miller scoffed.
"Fuck off," Skyler said through gritted teeth.
"Right back at you bitch," Miller said crossing a line no one else would dare cross.
He looked Skyler's nose casually as if they were mates. The alcohol made Miller slightly playful and even dumber.
Without warning Skyler punched Miller square in the face breaking his nose.
"What the fuck Skyler?" Miller yelled angrily as he held his nose.
"I said no touching," Skyler said through gritted teeth as he scratched his nose blood raw with his nails.
"Why are you such a bitch about that?" Miller asked angrily.
"I said no touching which means don't fucking touch me unless you want to die," Skyler said as his heart raced.
He wiped his bloody nose before signing as fresh skin covered his clawed nose.
Your check," Isabella came back with a card machine, "Oh God what happened to your nose?" She asked in shock at the sight of Miller holding his bleeding nose.
"Nothing to worry about," Miller said confidently as he snapped his nose back in shame.
Isabella cringed with her eyes closed. The boys lost their breaths at the sight of their mate with her cute button nose scrunched up and her eyes tightly closed. Words could not express the amount of love they felt in that moment for their mate, it felt like what they've both craved for years had suddenly just landed on their laps. The only problem was they had to share that happiness and that wasn't going to be easy.
"Didn't that hurt?" She asked, scrunching her nose in disdain.
"Not at all," Miller answered honestly with tint cheeks as his heart hammered away at the sight of his mate.
"Can I get you some ice?" She asked gently.
"No need I'm truly alright sweetheart," Miller smirked, making Isabella nearly lose her breath at the charming smile.
"Right, of course, have a good day then." She said flustered as her face heated up.
"You too," Miller said before she gave him the machine.
"Thank you for the wonderful service," Miller said with a smirk as he paid for their meals and gave her a massive tip.
Isabella's eyes bulged out of their sockets before she looked at Miller with her mouth wide open.
"I can't possibly take this, it's too much," she fumbled over her words.
"Nonsense it's all yours, you can repay us by keeping your word," Miller smiled kindly as he gazed into her hazel eyes.
"Thank you so much," Isabella said gratefully with a wide smile.
"You're welcome," Miller said.
All the while Skyler was watching their every move with a scowl on his face. It pained him to see Miller flirting with his mate and the sight disgusted him to the point of wanting to throw up.
"Oh chin up nerd she's your mate as well," Miller smirked.
"Don't remind me," Skyler replied through gritted teeth before he got up.
"Wait for me!" Miller exclaimed as he caught up to his neither in quick strides.
"Fuck off," Skyler said with a glare in Miller's direction.
"No can do, you still have my mom and Seon don't forget," Miller said, all playfulness vanishing from his face.
Skyler smirked as he exited the cafe.
"Good luck finding them before they die," Skyler smirked as he riled up his brother.
"What the fuck did you do to them?" Miller asked with a deep growl coming from his chest.
The sound startled those who heard it and looked at Miller strangely. Miller flipped them his middle finger and carried on walking with a permanent scowl on his face.
"Nothing they didn't deserve," Skyler answered casually.
"Don't play fucking games with me," Miller angrily said as he grabbed Skyler's shoulder roughly stopping him in his tracks.
Skyler calmly looked at the hand on his shoulder before he turned his deadly eyes at Miller. Miller immediately removed his hand as if he touched burning silver, with an irritated sigh Skyler brushed his shoulder with his hand before he continued walking to his pack. By now the rogues would've beaten Miller's pack with no issues.
"Where the hell do you think you're going?" Miller asked Skyler.
"My pack, what does it look like?" Skyler answered sarcastically as he began walking into the forest.
"What about Isabella?" Miller said, her name rolling off his tongue naturally as goosebumps of pleasure littered his body.
"What about her?" Skyler asked.
"We're supposed to walk her home," Miller said like a sulking kid.
"Do you really think she's going to allow two strange men to walk her home?" Skyler asked as if Miller had lost his mind.
Miller pouted as he realised his brother was right, to Isabella they could be serial killers.
"I still think we should give it a shot," Miller shrugged hopefully.
"You are most welcome to go do that alone," Skyler answered.
"What's your problem man, she's your mate as well, why are you acting like she doesn't exist," Miller asked defensively, pushing a button he shouldn't have gone near.
A tick formed on Skyler's forehead as he tried to hold in all his anger but his wolf couldn't and it all came out at once.
"BECAUSE OF YOU!" Skyler growled bearing his canines at Miller.
"Wow chill man, how is this possibly my fault?" Miller asked defensively as he felt a little hurt by his brother lashing out.
"Because you existed," Skyler spat with so much rage and venom. If looks could kill, Miller would've been six feet under at that moment.
"Fine, be a bitch about it. If you don't want her, that's fine by me." Miller said through gritted teeth before he turned around to head back to the human town.
Every inch of Skyler's body was crawling in goosebumps. Rage fueled his every movement as he headed back to his pack. When he entered his pack grounds he was surprised to see no bodies littered on the ground. The air was no long smelling deeply of blood and sweat but either of a floral scent mixed in with a bit of blood.
"Welcome back," Dylan greeted his alpha the moment Skyler entered his office.
"I'm guessing everything went smoothly," Skyler said without even sparing a glance at Dylan.
"Yes sir," Dylan said but the amount of pain he was in was making it hard to focus on what Skyler was saying.
The moment Skyler sat down he finally looked at Dylan and noticed his missing arm.
"Dare I ask what happened to your arm?" Skyler asked with a raised brow as he turned on his laptop.
"That's what happens when you take three guys on," Dylan tried to laugh it off but it hurt him to even move.
"Go get some rest, I don't need you to slow down the troops," Skyler said blankly as he typed in his password.
"Yes sir," Dylan said with a small smile as he left the office.
What Skyler said may have sounded harsh but it was his way of showing love and Dylan knew that.
