It had been five years since the last time he had laid eyes on his mother and seeing her then opened up fresh wounds.
"What do you want?" He asked blankly looking at her as if she was the scum of the earth.
Kiera was hurt by this but she knew she deserved it, she hurt her son beyond repair and for that she would never forgive herself. But she could try fixing things, better late than never she always said.
"My baby," she choked up on her words as she scanned him from head to toe.
He had grown up to be such a handsome man just like his brother.
"Don't touch me!" Skyler exclaimed angrily, slapping away his mothers hand that was reaching for his cheek.
The hurt in his eyes faltered his facade but he remembered everything she did and once again the walls were up higher than the Eiffel tower and barbed with wires.
"I deserve that, can we please talk?" She begged him with tears in her eyes.
Skyler didn't want to talk but telling by the suitcase behind his mother clearly she had something important to say.
"Come in," he said through gritted teeth as he walked to the side to let her in his room.
"You were always the neater twin," Kiera smiled as she noticed how clean his room is, compared to Miller's.
"Are you here to talk about the past or are we going to talk about why you're trespassing on my land?" Skyler asked coldly as he stared at her blankly.
"Right to business then," Kiera sighed before she locked eyes with him,"I left your father." She said with a sigh of relief.
Hearing it out loud made her realise that she got out alive and now she could do whatever she wanted to do without fearing for her life everyday if she said the wrong thing.
"What!" Skyler said in shock not being able to hide his astonishment at the news.
"I left him baby," Kiera yelled excitedly with a squeal.
"How are you alive?" Skyler asked with creased brows.
"I'm wondering the same thing," Kiera giggled as she felt newfound energy and excitement.
"Do you know what this means?" Skyler asked with a crazed look in his eyes.
"I'm finally free," Kiera twirled on the spot like a schoolgirl.
"No, you just gave the old goat a reason to wage war on me." Skyler said in fear.
He had no problem fighting with Miller because Miller was all bronze and no brains so he had no clue on how to lead and plan a war strategy. Not to mention his father scared the shit out of him but if he did set foot on his land then he could finally show his father what he achieved all these years and how he truly is the superior twin.
"Oh relax, he wouldn't set foot here even if I were in danger. Do you know how much he hates rogues?" Kiera asked with her hands on her hips.
"Wow so much that he won't even come near them." Skyler said in realisation.
"Is that why you're here?" Skyler asked with an annoyed stare aimed at her.
"No and yes. I wanted to see how my baby was doing." She answered with a sheepish smile.
"So after all these years, you only decided to come check up on me now?" Skyler asked with a raised brow.
"I know I'm a terrible mother but I'm trying Skyler. You try being married to that damn fool, everything he says goes or you end up being exiled or worse." Kiera said with a sigh.
Skyler knew she was speaking the truth, David loved being in power and he tended to abuse it more then he knew.
"You can stay here for as long as you need. When you're back on your feet I want you out of my pack." Skyler said coldly before he led her out of his room.
Kiera knew she deserved this treatment but she hadn't expected how painful it would be.
"Dylan take her to the East wing," Skyler order before slamming the door in their faces.
"Right this way ma'am," Dylan said as he led Kiera to her designated sleeping area.
Kiera was shocked at how well behaved rogues were. From all the stories she had heard they weren't civilised at all yet here they were living in a pack like any normal werewolf.
The room she was going to stay in was far away from Skyler just the way he wanted it. Far enough so he wouldn't cross paths with her in the pack house.
"This is your room miss," Dylan said politely as he opened the double mahogany doors that opened to a room fit for a queen.
Kiera gasped as she checked out every inch of the room.
"Dinner will be served in an hour, feel free to join us on the dinner table or I can have your dinner brought to you." Dylan said not setting foot int he room without her permission.
"I think I'll have dinner in my room thanks," Kiera said with a grateful smile.
"No problem then miss, I'll bring it when it's ready." Dylan said before he left.
Kieran began exploring the room as well as the massive ensuite bathroom that caught her attention. Everything looked so new and beautiful. The first thing she did was draw herself a long hot bath, only God knows how much she needed and deserved one.
A week had passed and still Skyler hadn't returned Seon back to Miller. Kyle wasn't the only one worried now as everyone feared the worst for Seon and the troops who were sent to disrupt Skyler. Kyle knew that plan was a terrible one yet Miller insisted and what he says goes no matter what so of course Kyle had to order his men into slaughter.
Countless lives lost all because of a petty family feud. It truly showed how selfish and powerful an alpha could be.
"Miller, I think we need to get reinforcements to go rescue any remaining troops." Kyle spoke what everyone was thinking in the meeting.
"We don't need to do anything, Skyler will crack soon he always does." Miller rolled his eyes as he laid back on his seat casually.
Murders of disagreement rung out in the room as the elders and pack organisers disagreed with Miller's idea.
"SILENCE!" Miller ordered in his alpha voice and within seconds the room was silent that you could hear a pin drop.
No one dared to breathe in fear of upsetting Miller.
"Like I said, Seon will be returned in one piece but unfortunately I cannot say the same to the other troops. They're most likely dead already." Miller said casually.
A breathless gasp rung out in the room as an elder cried for her son.
"No no no, this is your fault!" She cried as she suddenly stood up.
It was known that no one touched the elders because try were basically at the top of the food chain right beside the alphas. The elders were highly respected in packs because they brought wisdom and knew how to run a pack. They were the glue that held the pack together yet Miller couldn't give two flying fucks about who they were. If anyone was disrespectful towards him they would pay dearly and most likely with their life.
"If you weren't so naive and stupid you'd realise Skyler is coming for your head. This ain't a game anymore Miller, it's either his head or your head at the end of the day." The elder said angrily before she stormed out of the room.
She had enough of being ruled by a useless alpha. Of all the years that she had lived, she had never met such an obnoxious, selfish, egotistical brat such as Miller. In her opinion Miller should've never been Alpha, Skyler was the perfect candidate yet David never listened to the elders and that cost them.
One by one the elders began to leave then the warriors then Kyle and soon Miller was all alone.
"Where's everyone going?" Miller asked, annoyed but didn't order them back.
To him his entire pack was disrespectful towards him and he blamed everyone but himself. To him he was doing everything to the T, he led his pack into victory and got it into the top ten most powerful packs in America. To him they should be kissing his feet for his efforts and hard work but he never saw himself being in the wrong.

"Skyler!" Kiera yelled her son's name in the hallway.
Due to being new in the pack house she had no clue which corner led to where so she had been aimlessly yelling her son's name for the past twenty minutes hoping to find him.
"Screaming my name doesn't just magically summon me," Skyler said, annoyed through gritted teeth.
"It did now," Kiera said smugly.
Skyler rolled his eyes before he led her to the pack lounge where most of the adults hang out.
"Stay," he ordered his mom.
"How dare you speak to your mother like that," Kiera gasped in shock as she smacked his cheek playfully.
"That title was removed the day you disowned me," Skyler said blankly as he glared daggers down at her.
Kiera went silent as shame filled her grey orbs.
"Now stay put and stop wasting my time," he said through gritted teeth before he left.
Silence surrounded the room as the adults who watched the scene were shocked to meet Skyler's mother. More or less they were shocked to hear how Skyler didn't have her killed on sight for what she did. Before long every person in the room had a nasty glare aimed at Kiera and were holding back their blood lust to tear her limb from limb for what she did to their leader.
Skyler's blood was boiling, the audacity his mother had to touch him without his permission angered him. He could still feel her lingering touch and that alone just fueled his anger even more. If he didn't have a soft spot for her he would've killed her the moment she entered his pack lands.
To cool his temper Skyler began immersing himself in paperwork just to cool his blood lust. Over the years not only had he trained day and night to become stronger but he sharpened his mind to the point where he could turn any augment into his favour. He wasn't as big as his brother but he was getting there but in the brains department he claimed that trophy with ease.
In all honesty he had no clue as to why his mother had come to his land. Maybe she was telling the truth but knowing her it had to benefit her to be here. So what did she want?
Money? No, she has plenty of that.
Fame? How would she get that from him though?
Love? No, he saw no love in her eyes the moment they chose Miller to be alpha.
So what did she want, maybe she just wanted a new place but didn't have anywhere else to go. Typically no one else would accept her into their pack because of the man she was married to so she had no other choice but to seek refuge by her other son's pack.
Before he knew it his entire mind was clouded by thoughts of his mother and whatever she had planned for him. His paperwork flew out the window as his emotions took over.
"Focus!" He slapped himself back to planet earth.
