If there was one thing Skyler promised himself, it was to never let emotions sway his plans. When emotions entered the plan it immediately went downhill. He was known as a notorious strategic because of his big brain, something Miller could never obtain in his entire life.
There was a sudden knock on his door that interested his thought process.
"Come in," he said.
"Seon wishes to speak to you sir," Dylan popped his head in not intending to come in.
"What for?" Skyler asked with a smirk plastered on his face.
"To cut a deal with you," Dylan said.
This perked Skyler's attention as he wrapped up his paperwork and headed to the dungeons.
"This better be good," Skyler muttered under his breath as he walked inside the dungeon.
It was lowly lit and had a rancid smell that stung the nostril. The building was more like a prison than anything else as cells lined the hallway as well as more on the second floor. Cries of agony and crazed laughter could be heard from the prisoners, cries so horrifying it was enough to make his skin crawl.
"Seon buddy, how are you doing?" Skyler put on a wide smile as they arrived at Seon's cell.
Seon was pressed against the wall with nothing on but his boxers. Every inch of his skin was covered in wounds and scars, wounds that would not be healing due to the wolf's bane they put in his food. He looked frail and ready to drop dead as his wolf was slowly dying because of ingesting too much wolf's bane.
The sight made Dylan's stomach churn in discomfort. He didn't like seeing Seon look in so much pain but he couldn't do anything about it. Rogues didn't have mates due to being stripped of their title of being a werewolf but he felt a lingering connection towards Seon and that alone told him he was meant to be his mate.
"Fuck off Skyler," Seon gasped through a raspy throat.
"Well that isn't very nice," Skyler fake pouted as he got closer to the cell.
"If you wanna kill me then kill me, don't waste my time." Seon said through gritted teeth as it hurt him to even speak.
"Oh no that would be merciful and I for one don't have mercy for the enemy." Skyler said as he grabbed one cell bar, clench in it under his hand.
It crashed under the immense pressure he applied as he let out his anger.
"You see, I'm done playing nice with Miller. Now he shall know the true wrath I have." Skyler said through gritted teeth.
"Oh I'm so scared," Seon mocked with a roll of his eye.
"Oh you should be but I suppose you still think I'll let you go alive." Skyler said before he used one arm to pull apart the cell bar he was holding.
"You and I have unfinished business," Skyler said to Seon as he broke another cell bar, then another, to showcase his strength.
Considering the cell bars were silver which is lethal to werewolves. It showed how truly strong Skyler was. With his heavy footsteps he stepped into the cells with a manic look in his light blue eyes. Seon pressed himself harder against the wall as he shook on the spot finally realising how truly terrifying Skyler was. Everyone assumes since he was the weaker brother that he wasn't scary but contrary to what they thought, Skyler was the scariest out of the two.
"I thought you weren't scared," Skuler mocked Seon's earlier words.
Seon tried to get up but his weak legs would allow it as he fell back on his butt. Trembling on the spot in fear of his life he looked up to Skyler who bared his sharp canines. He knew this was the end and all thanks to the idiot twin Miller.
"Stop!" A sudden gruff growl erupted in the building.
Skyler felt his world awaken at being challenged. No one spoke to an alpha in such a way without being punished dearly.
Dylan stood between Skyler and Seon with a crease in his brows and fear in his eyes. What he just did would be answered by his death and he knew that but if he had to die then he would gladly die protecting his mate. Skyler wasn't dense, he knew what Seon meant to Dylan the moment they met on the battlefield. Skyler didn't care that they were mates what he cared about was being disrespected and being questioned of his decisions. No alpha liked being questioned, that would be a death sentence.
"Dylan move," Skyler gave Dylan one more chance to prove his loyalty or die protecting his mate.
"N-no," Dylan stuttered with shaking limbs as he felt Skyler's wolf ordering his wolf to stand down.
"No?" Skyler mimicked as he took a step closer towards Dylan.
"You know I can't do that Skyler," Dylan said with sweat dotting his forehead.
"Then so be it," Skyler shrugged his shoulders before he turned into a pure black giant werewolf.
Teeth bared as he clawed at the cement floor, a growl so terrifying it shook the walls in the building. He was about to jump and rip Dylan to shreds when a shriek cry caught everyone's attention.
"Enough!" Kiera shrieked as she ran into the cell.
She had been looking for Skyler for an hour straight. She wanted to apologise for everything yet he wasn't in his room nor the pack house. It was only when she asked a guard was she told where he was. It was a miracle that she went there immediately or had she been a minute later, Dylan and Seon would've been dead.
"Were you raised in a barn?" Kiera asked in annoyance as she pinched Skyler's sensitive ears and dragged him out of the cell with his tail tucked between his legs.
He wined and growled but didn't hurt her and that was a sure sign that deep down he still respected and loved his mother. It was no wonder Kiera had a small smile gracing her lips. He still cared for her and that made her heart flutter.
The moment they were alone Skyler shifted immediately with a scowl on his face.
"What is your problem?" He asked angrily.
"Jesus put something on," Kiera exclaimed as Skyler stood before her butt naked.
She threw her jacket at him and gracefully he wrapped it around his waist.
"What is your problem?" She asked him angrily as she jabbed her index finger hard against his exposed chest.
He did not like that as he immediately broke it.
"Ow, !" Kiera exclaimed in pain as tears welled up in his eyes.
"Don't touch me," he said coldly with such a deadly stare it gave her chills down her spine.
"Just because I gave you a place to stay does not mean you can worm your way into my pack. You don't live here nor do you have any sort of power over my pack, is that clear?" Skyler asked through gritted teeth.
"Crystal," Kiera said barely above a whisper.
"Good, because next time you pull a stunt like that I won't hesitate to rip you to shreds." Skyler promised and the look he had on his face made Kiera believe he wasn't joking.
With that he turned into his wolf and jogged to the forest to clear his head. Kiera on the other hand had finally realised how dangerous Skyler had turned out to be. He wasn't the same goofy loving son she used to remember, instead he was turning into the monster she feared most.
Kiera rushed back to the pack house and rummaged through her suitcase to find her phone. Who knew that little device would be useful after all, immediately once she unlocked it she called Miller.
"Finally you found out how a phone works," Miller answered sarcastically.
"He's going to kill you," Kiera said with tears in her eyes.
"What? Who?" Miller said finally becoming serious as he wanted to know who wanted to kill him and how he could deal with them.
"Skyler," that word alone chilled Miller's blood.
He knew his brother hated him but he didn't realise he actually wanted him dead. He figured the feudes they have been having we just to keep each other on their toes but now he finally realised that Skyler isn't playing he truly wanted Miller dead.
"He nearly killed Seon if I didn't stop him," Kiera said breathlessly as she struggled to keep the bubbling emotions out of her voice.
Miller's jaw dropped all the way to the floor, he couldn't believe he almost lost his second in command if it hadn't been for his carelessness. Anger brewed in his chest, if it's a battle to the death then so be it.
"Thanks for letting me know mom, I'll take it from her." Miller said responsibly.
Kiera choked on a sob as she realised this was all her fault. Her sons were going to fight and knowing their alpha genes one of them isn't going to live to tell the tale.
Miller stood up before he stood up immediately, he headed towards the training area.
"Kyle, prepare the warriors, we're going to war." Miller said with such a tense face it had Kyle worried as to what Miller knew.
"Yes alpha," Kyle said before he got everyone to suit up.
Every warrior was lined up by the pack borders awaiting for Miller to give his usual speech of fighting for a righteous cause.
To their utter surprise, Miller walked towards him in flexible attire with a grave look on his face.
"Today we end this pitiful feud between my brother and I. He has Seon captured and that is our first priority, squadron B will be the rescue operation while squadron A will lead all the rogues away from the dungeons. I know we're stretching ourselves thin but I know we can do this, this is what we've been training for. Kill every single rogue on that pack but leave Skyler for me, he and I are overdue for a little chat." Miller spoke with a booming voice.
Every warrior had his attention and a tiny sliver of pride for their pack blossomed in their hearts. Cries or war rang out through the forest as the men were riled up and dying to sink their teeth into the enemy.
"Follow me comrades and I will lead you to victory." Miller ordered as began walking in front of his pack.
Everyone was shocked to see Miller actually leading them to war. He was the type of leader who led from the office not the battlefield so to see him in front brought pride and joy to the heart of the warriors. Now this is the type of leader they had been waiting for.
All the way to Skyler's pack they sang old songs passed down from the elders. Every warrior felt victorious as if they had already won the war, Miller and his jacked up body gave them some confidence thinking they had a higher chance of winning with him by their side.
By the time they reached Skyler's pack they were blood thirsty. Each squadron went to their destination thinking they had this in the bag.
Miller and his squadron headed straight for the dragon's lair which happened to be the lack house where they assumed Skyler was.
It was smooth sailing to the packhouse as they encountered no rogue and this worried Miller. Clearly something was up because they were deep into Skyler's territory and not a single rogue in sight.
