AVA'S POV

I stepped out of the room to answer Everest's call as I didn't want Serena to eavesdrop on the call. As I picked up, he sounded composed, asking,

"Hey, have you found her yet, is there a problem?"

"Hey, Everest," I said, forcing more tears out of my eyes and sniffing. "I... I just found out. It's Shantel. She's... she's in a coma."

There was a brief pause on the other end before Everest responded, his voice filled with shock. "What? Oh my god. I'm was just on my way right now. I'll be there shortly. Please just stay with her for the main time."
