When we left the hotel, Matthew sounded very sulky, "Leaving me and the kids at home to go out on a date with another man?"

I immediately explained, "No, it was Tracy who asked me to accompany her to meet up with a classmate she hadn't seen in years, who knew she'd lied to me and asked Eugene out."

As soon as I looked up, I saw Matthew with a look of distrust on his face.

He stared at me with a look in his eyes that seemed to say, "I'll see what other outrageous excuses you can make up.
