I beamed and tugged at Matthew's shirt, muttering in a small voice, "I'm not scared."
Matthew pulled my hand up from the side and held it tightly in his, I struggled a little but he held it tighter.
I made the lame excuse that I needed to guard those baskets of flowers Matthew had bought, that there wasn't enough room on the passenger side and that I needed to sit in the back.
Matthew curled his lips into a smile and readily agreed, and he thoughtfully opened the door for me, and when I was seated, he pulled out his seat belt and fastened it for me, smoothly...
