She looked upset as she walked over from Rita, "This spot was always reserved for Matthew, how could it be booked for others."

Matthew smiled, "Ask the manager, I'm not selling my spot."

Millie nodded, "Good idea! I'll have to ask who's really lying."

Rita's face instantly changed colour like spilt dye and she kept laughing in embarrassment.

I think she was just trying to show that she had been generous enough to give up her seat so that we could sit where we were, and in the meantime she wanted to find something to talk about and join in the conversation, not expecting to be slapped in...
