I look at my reflection in the bathroom in silence. Today is my birthday and I should really be dancing for joy. But instead I'm standing here in the bathroom and looking at myself in the mirror in silence. You can't tell that I'm an adult now.

don't look any older or more mature or anything like that. It's just like any other birthday, except that from today on I don't have to listen to anyone tell me what to do. I have to grin a little at the thought of not being able to work out what time I'll be home and finally being able to sign for myself....
