Chapter 1 1

Chapter 1 1

I lean my sweaty forehead against the window of our car, my body fighting against this small space, against the feeling of being trapped. My wolf is trying to fight its way to the surface to free me, but I have already learned how to deal with my claustrophobia and am already pretty good at pushing it back.

It's new for me that it happens in the car but thank God it's not that bad, my brother must have noticed something because he takes my hand and squeezes it encouragingly. I smile at him and squeeze his hand too. Since our car rolled off the ferry, I've been feeling a little better and now the green and beautiful landscape of Ireland is rushing past us.

How I would love to transform and feel the lush, soft grass under my paws as I walk on it. We drive for about another hour until we are on a road surrounded by forest, the sun shines through the leaves of the green trees and gives the road a magical feel.

The forest thins out a bit and as we drive around a small bend we pass a beautiful old brick house. The roof looks like it is made of grey-brown straw, ivy grows up on it and purple and pink flowers grow out of the tall grass around the house.

The garden is breathtakingly beautiful and fairytale-like, something you don't see very often in London. A boy comes storming out of the door, but we drive too fast so I can only see his black hair and his strong build. A tingling sensation runs through my body and I immediately sit up straight, what was that?

Noah looks at me questioningly, "Is everything OK?" It's touching how caring he is, but sometimes it gets annoying, "yes, everything's fine."

Smiling, I look out the window again, we are surrounded by forest again and are driving towards a clearing, we go around a small bend again and our car stops. We are standing in front of a large white house, it has large windows and looks very bright and inviting from here. It has no garden, but looks more like the entire forest belongs to it.

It looks like we are in the middle of nowhere, but I know from the map that we only have to drive a few minutes down the road and we are in the city. Of course, nothing here is like London, but when we were here on vacation you could still go shopping and buy things, the city is just wonderful. I get out of the car and almost fall over my pillow, which must have fallen onto my lap when I raised my head earlier. I would never start an almost eight-hour drive without my pillow! Noah starts laughing, "you and your pillows."

I quickly pick it up from the floor and pat it with my hands, "so what. It's soft and cuddly, just because you have such a hard head." I once forgot my pillow when we drove to Edinburgh to visit our aunt.

The journey was pure hell and I hit my head every time I hit the bump. Our furniture arrived here a few days ago and my father has prepared everything. He's an architect and designed the house. As I'm just lifting my suitcase out of the trunk, the white wooden door opens and my father appears, grinning. "Did you have a good journey?" He kisses my mother on the lips and smiles at her. My parents are pure kitsch and still love each other like they did on the first day. Actually pretty nice, but it's clear that I want something just like that now when I get older.

Yes, I've had boyfriends, but always having a secret isn't good for any relationship and there's never been any real love. My father grins at me conspiratorially, "I think you want to inspect your room right away?" He has listened to all of our wishes regarding the new house, he had neither shown us the house nor had us buy anything for the rooms.

The house immediately captivated me and I already love it, it looks majestic and fairytale-like at the same time. I am now terribly excited about my room.

I effortlessly lift my suitcase and carry it into the house, and you immediately find yourself opposite a large brown spiral staircase that leads upstairs. On the left is a frosted glass door with a white wooden frame, through which you enter a small living room with a dining table and the kitchen. On the right is an arch set into the wall, through which you enter a huge living room with a fireplace and large windows.

The walls are white, which makes everything seem even brighter. "Up the stairs and into the second room on the left." My dad is standing behind me and motioning for me with his finger.

"Shall I carry your suitcase up for you?" he asks me. I look at him with raised eyebrows, "I'm a werewolf, remember? I could even beat you with one finger." He raises his hands submissively and grins. Our parents are not werewolves, strangely enough only me and my brother are.

They told us that they found out when my brother and I were playing, we were sitting in the living room and at first it was just a small argument and then two little wolves biting each other.

We've always lived in a big city and there have never been any other wolves there, I just know that they usually form a pack and it's better not to intrude into their territory. When I climb the last flight of stairs, I find myself in a hallway that is also painted white with pictures and a small cedar cabinet. There are three more doors to the right and left and the stairs lead up to the second floor. Noah is standing behind me and walks past me to the right, "looks like we have our own floor."

"It looks like it, but why three doors?" My gaze wanders back and forth between the two doors on the right side of my hallway and the one on the left. "Let's take a look." And then he's gone.

I toddle to the first door and turn the silver knob, revealing a dressing room.

My heart leaps for joy. Two large windows are set into the wall next to each other, facing the street outside, and half of them are opaque with a milky pattern. In the middle of the room is a cream-colored round carpet, a full-length mirror is in the corner next to the window, and next to it is a large white shoe rack. The entire wall to my right is covered by a large, also white cupboard.

To the left, right next to the door, is a small cupboard with drawers, probably for underwear, and a door diagonally opposite. I just leave my suitcase here and go to the door, a blue button with a white pattern serves as a handle.

"Wonderfully pretty" is the only thing that comes to mind. I turn the knob and step into my new, beautiful room. Everything I need is there.

My flat screen TV is on the wall opposite my bed, my dressing table is in the sunlight, as is my desk. Next to my large bookshelf - I love reading - there is a red armchair with fur on it and a reading lamp next to it. The armchair matches the red wall my bed is against perfectly, my furniture here is also white, like my large bed with the pillows on it. Yes, I love pillows, I love having hundreds of them on my bed. It's beautiful. I may be a werewolf, but I'm still a girl.

I immediately start putting the rest of my things in their places and then collapse onto my bed. There's a knock on my door and I lean up on my elbows, "yes?"

Noah sticks his head through the door in the hallway into my room, "can I talk to you for a minute?"

"Sure." He comes in and drops down next to me, his face serious, which doesn't happen very often. "I don't want you to transform the first time we're here, it could be a pack's territory.

I'll find out more at school tomorrow, but please don't do it for now.

Just until we know who we're dealing with, okay?" I let out a sad sigh and pout, "okay."

"And spray some strong perfume on you tomorrow." I roll my eyes, "yes, daddy." It's not my first time at a new school, after all.

He just grins and throws a pillow at me. I love my brother, he's my protector and always there when I need something. We've been inseparable since we were little.

"Come over with me, we'll play a game in my game room." I raise an eyebrow, "be careful with your choice of words, since Shades of Grey everyone thinks differently about it." Another pillow lands on my head.
