Chapter 4 It's Good To Have You

Chapter 4 It's Good To Have You

Nancy

I knew what losing a car race meant to my friend. Kyle was always a pretty proud person, something smug. Of all the time we came here, and he ran, he had never lost to anyone. Not even the best had won a race for him, and today came that time I had never seen in my life and quickly beat Kyle.

It was an impressive race. I have to admit, and I was curious and surprised to learn more about that guy who beat my friend. The way he observed me was deep and direct. It did not strike me by how handsome he was but by how good he was at driving. That sparked a slight interest in me, a little pointless attraction. If my best friend found out about my thoughts, it was obvious he wouldn't talk to me for weeks.

"Kyle," I called him, without raising his voice much, because there were people and he didn't want us to attract much attention. But Kyle didn't hear me, so they forced me to raise my voice a little more. Kyle! Wait.

"I don't want to talk now, Nancy.”

Whenever he got upset about something that caused him a strong feeling, he would shut himself down and say the same thing. But also, whenever I insisted twice that he talk to me, Kyle would tell me how he felt.

"Come here, or at least wait for me to reach you.”

Kyle listened to me and stopped on the way, waiting for me, but without turning around to see me. I reached out to his side and interlaced my arm with his. I left the crowd of people behind, as everyone came to see the new winner. The screams of Jake's man-made my friend more nervous. I imagined it was ugly to lose after being so used to winning all the time.

"Don't even think about making fun of what happened," he warned.

"Why would I make fun? You know me. I'm not like that with you.”

"You should have let me break the face of that cheater.”

On this, I did not agree with him. Breaking the boy's face would not solve anything, much less make him win a race that he has already lost. Also, I watched the race, and, as much as my friend didn't like it, I don't think that kid cheated to win. I think he won fairly, by luck or by skill. I think both since they were both very good. Or so it seemed to be Jake.

"Well, something on his face broke. You hit him, and you shouldn't have done that in front of all those people. They stared at you and I left you as a bad loser, Kyle. No, you shouldn't have hit him directly. What's wrong with you?”

"What's wrong with me?" He has cheated!

"Why are you so sure about that? What makes you think that? They said he just got to the track.”

"I don't know, maybe he sent someone to do something to my car, or I planned it with the organizer. They seem to be friends, so that could have been.”

His conclusions were just that. Its conclusions. He understood it hurt his ego to have lost, but it was not so much either. I mean, yes it was important for the money, and Kyle today had lost the money he gambled. However, that was not a problem for him, because he had money left over everywhere. He never lacked.

"Kyle, seriously, I think you're thinking anything. I did not notice that your car had any complications. You ran fast, quick, but he beat you. Ready. End of story. Let's go have a drink to distract ourselves," I proposed. What do you think? This way you will relax more.

"I don't want to drink anything, Nancy. And it hurts me you don't take my side.”

"You have lost nothing," I replied. And of course, I take your side. And since I take your side, I tell you to forget it and don't think about it anymore. It's not a big deal, Kyle. We are here to have fun.

"And for the money.”

"You don't need the money," I corrected. You're a billionaire. Why would you need that money? For what?

He rolled his eyes, annoyed.

"I just wanted to win," he admitted, contradicting his words.

We got to my car, and he opened the door and sat in the passenger seat. He reached for his box of cigarettes, took one, lit it in his mouth, and took a puff, closing his eyes, as if smoking relaxes him. Yes, I relaxed him; he had always said it and whenever he felt stressed; he did it.

"Losing this race doesn't make you any less amazing at driving. You are very good.” stressed;

"Forget it, I don't want to touch the subject anymore.”

I sighed.

Even though Kyle was exaggerating this, I didn't like to see him down. I sat on his lap to talk to him. The car was spacious so no problem. I caught Kyle's attention right away.

I watched his beautiful face, noticing the blow the other boy gave him in return. I stroked his face with a faint supportive smile.

"I don't want you to put up fights in these places. People here can be dangerous and you don't know what they can do to you, so don't take any chances, okay?" My concern was real because he could pay the consequences.

Kyle was going to contradict me, but he saw my eyes and noticed that my question had a real reason important to me.

"Yes, that's fine," he agreed, unwillingly.

But that answer was enough for me.

"I love you," I kissed her cheek, being guarded by her arms.

"It's good to have you.”

"It's good to have you too. But sometimes you're very competitive," I smiled.

Kyle fell silent, hugging me. This lost race told me that Jake and Kyle would have a lot of problems in the future. And not just because of race. It was a hunch.

But what other differences would it have?
