"Why are you interested in how he's doing? I thought you didn't like him," I replied, putting a wall between us.

"You don't have to be aggressive with me, Nancy. It's just a question that anyone would ask; it's a matter of respect," he explained, with a soft, calm voice, which relaxed me.
