CHAPTER 30

DEREK'S POV

I drifted in and out of consciousness, my body still fighting whatever illness had taken hold of me.

Everything hurt so badly; my head pounded, my muscles ached, and I felt like I was burning up from the inside.

Sometimes I wished I didn't have to wake up, because whenever I'm awake, all I feel is strong pain that I can't comprehend, and it's really frustrating.

I tried to open my eyes, but even that simple task felt like it required more energy than I had. I could hear voices around me, people talking in hushed tones.

"How is the Alpha doing?" a male voice asked....
