My stomach churned with trepidation as I traipsed into the ward. Rowan trailed behind me because I told him that I wouldn't go in if he didn't accompany me.
A strong scent of antiseptic and disinfectant clung to different corners of the room. It aroused a wave of nausea within me but I gulped, forcing down the bile that threatened to burst out of my throat.
“Hi, mom,” I murmured, staring at the pair of delicate eyes that were trained on me.
Remorse hung heavily on those orbs that formerly glared at me in disgust. I wondered what changed. Maybe she'd hit her head on a surface...
