Chapter 15

Chapter 15

The cell phone rang insistently, waking Lucia from her comfortable sleep. She stretched briefly and tried to reach for her cell phone which at the lazy touch of her fingers fell to the floor in more and more alarm. She quickly glanced at the time on the radio alarm clock. Nine o'clock Saturday morning. Finally when she took possession of the device, she answered. On the other side Rafaela's desperate voice vibrated electrifyingly.

Phone 1: Oh, how desperate Rafa, my eardrums will burst my friend.

Phone 2: I thought I would never answer this cell phone girl.

Phone 1: Calm down Rafa, what is happening to you is so electrified this time of morning. Today is Saturday you know?

Phone 2: That's why Lú, today is Saturday, and do you know what day it is?

Phone 1: I think so, or, no.

Phone 2: Today there's going to be that biggest party at the Arcade Club, did you forget?

Phone 1: Oh!

Phone 2: You just say ah. Now that you're not in the Golden Swan anymore...

Phone 1: Keep your voice down, my mother doesn't even dream of me leaving the ballet group.

Phone 2: Okay, relax. And there you come?

Phone 1: I have to check my savings for the bus ticket, I think my card is not full.

Phone 2: It doesn't matter, my parents let me go, so I'll drive there with my dad to pick you up, ok.

Phone 1: Okay, that's better.

Phone 2: You already have a cool style, see if it goes with a really cool outfit just to make the repressed jealous ok. I love you friend, but later I'll catch you there, kisses.

Phone 1: Kisses. She hung up.

She looked around the room and was surprised. Things hadn't been in place before she'd fallen asleep last night. Or had she had the strength against sleep and had set her laptop on the table next to her diary and pulled back the covers? She gave up thinking about it and got out of bed. She prepared the tub for a bath. She opened her wardrobe and selected a baggy blouse and a legging. She entered the bathroom and sank into the water. She relaxed a few minutes trying to clear her mind. But it was impossible, Rafaela's phone call kept reminding her that she would have to be honest with her mother and tell the truth that she had left the dance company. Which she fought hard to get into. At this point she had no reason to hide it anymore, and prolonging the conversation on the subject would be more than torture. A part of her dream had been shattered and the blame had been blamed on only one boy. Maybe it was unfair or not. She thought. But she needed to fix this mistake, and the cultural dance event is what she needs to keep another part of the dream from falling apart for good. She got out and wrapped herself in her bathrobe. She dried her hair and dried it in the dryer. She got dressed and combed her hair. She put on a lip gloss and when she went to open the bedroom door to go downstairs she was surprised that it was locked. A feeling of invasion filled her hungry stomach. She wouldn't have locked the door even before she fell asleep. She thought. Not even her mother would have. With a suspicious look she went to the window that had the locks loose, she reflected and remembered that she had forgotten to close it. She opened it and looked out as if she wanted to find her dog, who was barking at the gate. As she placed her hands on the wooden support she felt sand brush against her palms. Soon she realized that someone had come in through the window. She concluded that only one person could have done this. Frames. She huffed angrily as she imagined him sneaking up the tree to perch on her window and daring to go through her things. With a quick step she picked up her diary from the nightstand and clasped it in her arms. Her stomach churned at the thought that someone else could have opened her diary and read what was written in her lines. She breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that the diary was securely closed. She locked it in another drawer inside her wardrobe to keep it safe. He contained his most precious secrets and moments recorded with great care.

He had things that she would never, under any circumstances, even tell her best friend. All his feelings depended on every word thought and written, it kept them alive, kept his sweet memories and disappointments alive. Part of his life was painstakingly cataloged on every page of his. She locked the wardrobe doors well too and hid the key in a place only she would know. She took a deep breath as she pulled her hair into a simple bun. She opened the bedroom door and went downstairs. Her mother had already left early for work. She prepared her breakfast. She washed the dishes in the sink and organized the kitchen. She put water and food for the dog. She tidied the room to the loud music of the home theater. She went back into the room and tidied it up, and washed the bathroom. Then she rummaged through her wardrobe for an outfit that could go to the party. She was in doubt about several pieces.

She analyzed an ensemble she could form and finally chose the outfit. When she thought about calling her mother to let her know she was leaving, she gave up. Her mother knew that on Saturdays she always went out to perform with the dance group. No excuse came to mind that she could use to distract her. She trusted herself with the fact that no notifications had come in yet, either from the school or the dance company. she sighed determinedly ada. She undressed and put on her bra and panties. She sat on the edge of the bed and massaged her body with moisturizer that gave off a light scent that deepened the smoothness of her skin. She made an exfoliating face cream mask and waited for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, she called Rafaela who told her who else was going to the party too. Then she took off her mask and felt her cheekbones to see how she had turned out.

Finally, she put on the outfit she'd formed from the pieces she'd chosen. Black jeans with zippers that stood out for their gold on the back and sides. The pants were tight and drew her legs and butt well. Before the blouse, she put on a black laicra corset. The blouse wasn't too wide, it had short sleeves that only covered the shoulders. On the front, an image of the United States flag and the Statue of Liberty shimmered through the glitter painted on it. She adorned her ears with small, simple earrings. She did a light makeup, using only the dark pink lipstick. She let her hair down and illustrated it with just a few faux light locks with extensions that soon blended into her long locks as she shook them out, giving her a subdued, flashy look. She sprayed a scent. She put on black heels that had a polished sheen. She securely locked the doors and windows of the house. Rafaela had arrived early and was waiting for her in front of the house. She got out of the car as soon as she saw Lucia. She spun around introducing her style.

- Rafa! You look great - said Lucia in amazement. – You changed your hair.

-My mother gave a magic touch and fixed my mistake - she grimaced.

-I loved the Viking braids - she said, running her fingers through Rafaela's hairstyle.

- You're rocking too. We will.

The two got into the car and went to the party.
