Chapter 17

Chapter 17

Lucia was happy to see her two best friends getting along. She took a drink and went back to the dance floor. Rocking from her was slow and made her curves more enticing. Which drew Adonis's leer. He approached furtively from behind Lucia, enjoying the movements of her body and feeling her hair gently stroke her shoulders. Meanwhile, Marcos had entered the party with his face covered with punches and his jacket stained with blood. He went straight to the men's room and tried to clean himself up. Minutes later he came out of the bathroom. He greeted Rafaela and Janio on the way, noticing the intimacy between the two. He smiled making a sign of support. He asked if Lucia had come and Rafaela confirmed that she had. He started looking for her position with his gaze across the dance floor. He walked and wasn't pleased to see Adonis stalking her like a hungry wolf. He approached and placed himself in front of Lucia who was still focused on her dancing. He didn't even notice that the two surrounded her, because the people around him also hit each other without wanting to shake their bodies without bothering, because everyone was happy at the party and just wanted to have fun. To provoke, Adonis pulled a few strands of Lucia's hair and stood sniffing, staring at Marcos's fierce gaze, who couldn't contain himself and looped his arm around her waist, bringing her close to him. Lucia was startled when she was interrupted. She brushed the strands of hair out of her face and saw that it was Marcos holding her.

- You're crazy. Let go of me - she didn't understand why he had gripped her waist so tightly. -Let me go, Marcos-she shouted, but he seemed static without hearing her. She tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention. He turned her around like a dance step, keeping her around the waist. Seeing Adonis in front of her, she understood why Marcos grabbed her. Lucia could feel Marcos's jaw tightening and fury seared her skin and electrified her. Adonis dared to tug at a strand of her hair with a sly smile. Marcos held her hand tightly so that he released the strands of her hair.

-I'm not done with you yet, sweetie-he dared to say staring at Lucia's face that felt like spitting her face.

"Idiot," she muttered to Adonis. She took Marcos' arm, asking them to stop teasing each other. Marcos obeyed her, releasing Adonis' wrist, who moved away from them. Marcos in turn turned Lucia's body towards him.

"I hate this guy next to you," he said.

- Calm down, it's over. There's no reason to spoil the fun for that idiot.

- So it's. Now kiss me for my calm to be complete - he said looking at her in an irresistible way even with his purple face.

- How about we just dance. I'm sure it will help too. As soon as he finished speaking he dared to kiss her. A fierce kiss, but one that gradually became soft making Lucia's body almost melt in his arms right there in the middle of the dance floor. But the night still promised many diversions and displeasures. The two took the opportunity to dance together several songs. Then they stopped to drink water and rest.

- At this rate, we'll end up winning the school's cultural dance contest - Lucia said after drinking water and taking a breath.

- With you you can win any dance dispute - Marcos said touching her chin that blushed.

- That's a compliment coming from you.

- Why not. I confess that you are worth it. Too bad, squire - he said, licking his lips.

- It really is. Hmm... - She brought her lips together and gave him a peck.

- How about we go out tomorrow.

- Tomorrow.

- Yea. Just the two of us. Like a walk.

- Well let me see. I'm broke, my mom is going to work and I don't know if she's going to let me. And another, I don't even know if I can trust you.” She raised an eyebrow with a crooked smile.

- But of course you silly, that you can trust me. Money is no problem and neither is vehicle. People go by motorcycle.

- Whose motorcycle?

- My.

"And where does the prickly lord intend to take me?" He bit his lip.

"It's a surprise," he said, wanting to kiss her more than ever. He got out of the chair and pulled her towards him, giving her a thirsty kiss.

"I..." whispered Lucia. -I need to go to the bathroom-she got rid of Marcos and left in a hurry.

Rafaela had gone outside to get some fresh air while she waited for Janio to come back with some soda. To her surprise Hayden appeared all stylish. He walked towards him and stood right in front of him. She was paralyzed for a few seconds, not understanding his sudden approach. Hayden was sweating nervously, when he saw Rafaela alone, the girl who had always been forced to harass at the behest of his colleague Adonis, he thought it was a chance to redeem himself and say everything he felt deep down about her. He was embarrassed to face her like that, but he needed to talk or he would explode. Rafaela took an apprehensive step back.

"No," Hayden said, his hand shaking. Rafaela still didn't understand. She could clearly see his nervousness, but she couldn't. he knew for sure if he was aggressive or if he had a health problem.

- If you do anything, I'll scream - he said walking away slowly. He blinked nervously. He closed his eyes, pressing his lips together with his fists.

"I..." he stammered. -I came to ask for forgiveness - he said finally opening his eyes. Rafaela blinked in disbelief. - I know I've always been an idiot with you and your friends.

"A fool," Rafaela added.

"A scoundrel," Hayden added.

- An asshole - Rafaela. - A tremendous fool and coward.

"True." He ran a sweaty hand over his forehead. - You can say and accuse me. I know I deserve it.

- What got into you. This is some game played by your class of non-scholarship lunatics, who think they've always been the best just because of their high social and economic level and think they have the right above others to massacre and treat people as they see fit - she stopped to breath.

- Actually... - he paused - Actually I never liked being like that, of...

- You broke my cell phone. What your daddy can pay in cash, mine takes six months.

- That... The cell phone... I mean that the cell phone, and the card, I left it on your desk - he came closer.

- What? - Rafaela sighed in astonishment.

- I left the cell phone, the secret admirer notes. I did it alone. I never wanted to participate in Adonis' madness. I don't even talk to him anymore since I helped Lucia escape him.

- Why can't I believe what you're saying?

- You have every right not to believe. And what's more, everything I wrote in the notes is true. I like you - Rafaela's eyes widened, she never expected to hear such revelations from Hayden. Her mind flashed back to all the wrongs he had done to her and her friends. It made the blood rise.

- Aaah! - She smacked angrily taking her hand closed on his chest. He held her hand keeping it steady as if he wanted to feel her skin longer. And he wanted to. He even dared to put his other hand on the back of Rafaela's neck, feeling her warmth.

Let me go, you asshole - Rafaela said with a wavering voice.

Let me tell you... - he said with a trembling mouth. - I really like you and be damned Adonis and those retarded idiots. I'm not like them and I never wanted to be. Ever since I saw you and your friends the first few days of school, I've never had any intention of playing Adonis' stupid pranks. I immediately thought you were the most beautiful girl in school. I have no prejudice against your color or your social level, much less your friend of indigenous descent.

"Then why would you…" She held his upturned arm under his hair.

- Because I was blind and I was going along with the idiot Adonis who said it was just a joke without malice, but then it got worse and I didn't know how to get rid of his friendship.

- That's called manipulating people, not friendship.

- I know it would be too much to ask you to give me a chance.

- Maybe if you would please let me go, I'll think about forgiving you - so he released her. As a figure Janio appeared and punched him in the face, not even Rafaela saw him arrive.

Never touch her again, you idiot,” Janio said. - And stay away from us - hugged Rafaela taking her back inside the club.

Hayden turned away and was gone.

The rest of the event was enjoyed to the fullest by the group of friends. Marcos dressed Lucia in her jacket and took her on the motorcycle. She hugged him from behind, wrapping her arms around his waist. It was already 3 am when they left the dance. He didn't take her home. She tired and sleepy, didn't realize where he was taking her. She just wanted to feel the cold wind that hit her face. The road trip was long. Anyway, he parked the bike near a cottage. He unlaced Lucia's arms from around her waist. Her hands were cold and numb. He balanced himself so as to keep her from falling off the bike. Quickly he took it. He placed her in his arms. He took her inside the cottage. He laid her on the bed. He lit the fireplace. He covered himself next to her with blankets. He loosened her corset to make her more comfortable. So they slept holding each other until 10 am on Sunday.
