Chapter 5 conference room part 2

Chapter 5 conference room part 2

Blake's pov

I stayed quiet as I watched him squirm in his seat. I sipped my coffee as slowly as I could so I could buy more time.

He said nothing just like I did, we not waited for the first to break.

I have been practicing the silent treatment for a long time now and this was nothing new. I grabbed the folders intended for the meeting and opened one just as he spoke.

"Is there a problem here?"

I smiled behind the files, I schooled my expression once again as I face him.

"How are you, sir?" I asked.

That got a reaction out of him, his brows disappeared into his hairline.

"What?" He asked in a high tone.

Jeez, did this guy not care about his employees at all? This man was surprised that I asked him about his welfare.

"I am fine, thank you for asking. But I don't believe that's why you called me here."

"It is. Your department has been doing so well, so I figured we just chat."

He eyes me skeptically but said nothing about his feelings.

"The other day I was just thinking of the first time you need at me despite my position in this company."

He shrugged, "you were being a brat, and I remember apologizing that day."

"I know, despite being yelled out. I found out that it helped. You reminded me that even though inherited the company at a young age, I had people who were both older and experienced in the game before I came along." I tell him.

He nods his head, relaxing for the first time since I told him to stay behind.

"We haven't always seen eye to eye." He reminds me.

"That's because you don't want to get on board with my strategy."

"That's not true. You want to change it."

"If you stop thinking like that, you will find out that I want to enhance the old methods. Did you ever read any of the files I sent across?" I ask,

He shook his head, "no."

"I see. When you have the chance, read them and tell me what you think. You are the one person I can trust in this company."

"Because I am older?"

"Because you and my father go way back and you have always looked out for me in your way."

His eyes shone with pride as he looked at me. "You have changed from the rebellious child to this businessman. I am proud of you.'

“Thank you" I grin.

"You have changed and so has this company, your father would be so proud of you." He tells me.

I smile despite the pain at the mention of my father. I wished he would look at me and tell me that he is proud of me.

"While we are here, I wanted to talk about something." He leaned further into me.

"I think it's time we recognize the support staff and those who handled their departments without any help."

"What do you have in mind?" I ask,

"I was talking to them the other day and I think a party would do them good. You know, show the rest what they would miss out on if they don't work hard enough to be recognized."

"So you think I should throw them a party?" I ask,

"More like a thank you party for the hardworking families and their roles in this company"

That was a good idea, and judging by his expression he must have given it a lot of thought before presenting it. It would seem that the boss cared about his company and the people in it.

It was a good idea.

"I think it's a good idea. My assistant will communicate the details to you. You can work it out with her." I tell him.

"That would be all."

"Thank you for opening my eyes, I have been too busy cracking the whip on my employees that I forgot that they are humans and to be appreciated."

"Anytime boss." He mocked before leaving.

I press the button to summon my assistant.

"You asked for me, sir?" She poked her head through the door.

"Yes, I need Information on the supporting families." She regarded me with a curious look.

I relayed the information I got from DuPont to my assistant.

"Do you think it's a good idea to throw a party in the middle of the year?"

"You are my assistant, what do you think?"

"I think he was right in suggesting it but I am going to need more time to put it together."

"You have just two days."

"I will get started right away, sir"

"Don't worry, I just need to see what gifts you picked out and their files before I decide."

While DuPont made a nice point to suggest we throw the party. The whole reason I agreed was to see myself without raising any suspicions. There is no reason why a teenager and a businessman should hang out together.

I needed to see me and ask some questions.

While I enjoyed the work thing, I would rather get back into my body as soon as possible.

"Sir, your next meeting is in the next thirty minutes." My assistant interrupted me.

"Sure thing, who is next?" I ask,

"The tech brothers whom you are to buy their database. You asked them to come today."

Oh lord!

"Is it too late to cancel?" I ask.

She gave me a look, "no, you already canceled three times before today."

I gave her a look and she returned it with one of hers, "conference room 5b." She says.

I sigh to myself as I stood.

She led me to my next appointment, before I opened the door to the tech brothers I let out a little prayer.

I better get through the day and pray I don't mess this up for him.

My prayer was, wherever my body is. I hope it is having much more fun than I am right now.
