I couldn't believe it. After everything I had been through, all the fear and uncertainty of being kidnapped, my stepmother was berating me the moment I walked through the door.

"What were you thinking, Blake?" she snarled at me. "How could you be so stupid as to get kidnapped like that?"

My father, standing silently by her side, didn't say a word in my defense. He just looked at me with a sad, disappointed expression on his face.

I kept mute as I listened to her talk.

But Beatrice, and my stepmother, weren't having it. They continued to bully and belittle me, making me feel small and worthless....
