The walk back to our bedroom after the brief kiss was quiet. Lucien didn’t say much after we left the dining hall. He just held my hand, walking calmly beside me while two guards flanked us from behind.

Yet, my mind was not fully in the present. It was still all about Gerald and Wanneka. The bitter memories continued to torment me throughout the walk back to the room.

I bit my lips in anger as we entered the spacious bedroom. I couldn’t seem to wrap my head around the fact that the thought of them still had so much effect on me.
