I was walking among the younger wolves, offering advice on training and strategy, listening to their chatter about patrols and pack duties. The conversation was casual, nothing pressing, but I stayed engaged.

Something in the corner of my vision made me pause. A maid passed through the corridor, and right behind her was Ashley. I hadn’t seen her since the last time I was in her room. She looked cautious, almost hesitant, like a hunted animal moving through unfamiliar territory.
