Ashley Cole is forced to marry Alpha Gerald Cain, who loves his Beta, Samantha. When war kills Ashley’s warrior parents, Gerald brands them traitors to please Alpha King Lucien Stark and offers Ashley to Lucien as “entertainment for the night.”

On the full moon, Ashley’s mate call summons Ryker, not Lucien. Ryker uses a false bond to make her deathly ill, forcing her to his pack. There she finds her parents alive; they were Ryker’s spies. Lucien rescues her, defeats Ryker, and her parents are executed.

Ryker confesses Lucien’s “mate” was faked by a witch who cursed him. Ryker had the witch bind him to Ashley too. Both are executed and the false bond broken. Still cursed, Lucien and Ashley mark each other by choice. The curse breaks, their true bond forms, and they rule together with their son.
