The words echoed in my head, my mind felt like it had gone completely blank. Then suddenly— It hit me. My hands moved instinctively, trembling slightly as they pressed against my lower abdomen. My baby, how could I forget something so important?

Panic surged through me, I looked up at him, my heart racing, only to find him already watching me. A slow smirk tugged at his lips.

Of course, he had noticed. “The doctor informed me,” the king said calmly, his gaze dropping briefly to where my hands rested, “that you are pregnant.”

My eyes widened in shock, he knew. Every bit of strength I had gathered faltered....
