Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Carmen - Darling, you look so beautiful. When your future husband sees you, he'll be speechless.

Hayden - Yes, I hope so. – I look at myself in the mirror. The top is a corset that enhances my bust, with sleeves that drape down my arms. The bottom is voluminous, with intricate designs matching the top of the dress, and my veil is longer than the dress itself.

Julia - Something's missing, friend.

Alba - Oh, right. The garter. Julia, lift the dress, I'll put it on her. – Alba helps me put on the garter, a decorative elastic band that goes around the leg, adorned with some fantasy roses and pearls.

Alba - There you go.

Hayden - Thanks, but isn't it too high?

Alba - No, it's right where it's supposed to be.

Hayden - Okay, I'm ready now.

Carmen - Let's go; it's getting late. – We leave my room and carefully make our way downstairs to the front door.

José - Darling, you look beautiful. You're all grown up now, and it feels like just yesterday I was holding you in my arms.

Hayden - Yes, Dad, thanks for being the best dad in the world. I love both of you, and I won't disappoint you.

José - We love you too, and we're looking forward to having grandchildren.

Hayden - I know, but I also want children, just not right away.

Carmen - Let's go.

José - I'll go with my daughter, and you go with the girls.

Carmen - Okay, see you at the church.

My dad and I head to the car, driving to the church. I'm a bundle of nerves, not knowing anything about my husband-to-be. I don't know what he looks like, what his name is, or what he does. Without realizing it, we arrive at the church. My friends are already there, and all that's left is me. So, I step out of the car with my dad's help, and we walk to the entrance of the church. As the entrance music plays, I walk down the aisle with my dad holding my arm. I take in the crowd, seeing familiar faces and others who are probably his family and friends. Finally, I reach him. He's standing there, looking at me. "Oh my God! He's not old or pot-bellied; quite the opposite. He's handsome, with blue eyes, fair skin, tall, and he seems to be in shape. At 30, he's got everything in place. His lips are... Well, this is getting out of hand. Calm down, Hayden." We arrive at where he stands. He's observing me and can't take his eyes off me.

José - David, I'm entrusting my daughter to you. Take care of her and love her.

David - Of course, sir. I'll love her for the rest of my life.

I take my place beside him with his help. We all sit down, and the priest gives his speech, which seems to last for an hour and a half. We stand up, and the priest continues.

Priest - David Navarro, do you take Hayden Panettiere to be your wife? To love, honor, cherish, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?

David - I do, Father.

Priest - Hayden Panettiere, do you take David Navarro to be your husband? To love, honor, cherish, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?

Hayden - I do, Father.

He puts the wedding ring on my finger, and I do the same for him. Together, they form a heart; mine has gems, giving it a more feminine touch, while his is half of the heart.

Priest - What God has joined together, let no man separate. You may now kiss the bride.

I turn slightly to face him, and he grabs me by the waist, giving me a kiss. "His lips feel amazing." I wrap my arms around his neck. We pull away when people start clapping, breaking the connection. We leave the church to go to the reception. While waiting for everyone to leave the church, my parents and his talk.

Carmen - Congratulations, darling.

Hayden - Thanks, Mom.

Anna - Congratulations to both of you.

David - Thanks, Mom.

Hayden - Thanks, Mother-in-law.

Carlos - Son, we want grandchildren.

David - Dad, we just got married.

José - So what? You have the honeymoon to start practicing.

Hayden - Dad, I told you, everything in due time.

Carmen - Let's go to the reception. Hayden, you go with your husband.

Everyone leaves, and I go with my husband. We get into his car, and he drives. Nobody says anything until we arrive at the reception. He gets out of the car, helping me out, and we walk in hand in hand, pretending to be deeply in love. We greet everyone at their tables and then take our seats at our table. Our food arrives, and after a few hours, it's time for our first dance.

We dance until the music stops and then sit down. After a while, they signal for me to sit in a chair, and David takes off my garter with his teeth.

Hayden - Don't bite me.

David - Don't worry; someday I'll bite you.

Hayden - Haha, very funny. David, lean your head under my dress; it's on my thigh. I feel his mouth on my leg, and he takes off the garter.

Carmen - All the single men on the dance floor. Several guys get on the dance floor, and David stands with his back turned. He's pushed forward, and the gym teacher catches him. His friends tease him.

Anna - Now, Hayden, throw the bouquet. I stand on the chair, and David holds my waist to steady me.

Hayden - 1, 2, 3. – I toss it, and it lands in my friend Alba's hands. – Looks like there's another wedding coming up.

I get off the chair, and now it's time for the toast. Everyone raises their glass, and David and I cross our arms to clink them together. We start toasting.

After a couple of hours, the party is over. David and I leave for our honeymoon. I have to change into something more comfortable at home.
