Hey, I'm Hayden Panettiere, and today I'm turning 17. I'm a good daughter, a studious one. Above all, I'm a cheerleader at the school. My parents own several Panettiere companies. How am I? Well, I'm not very tall, I have natural blonde hair, green eyes, soft and smooth skin, and my body is muscular from sports.
I wake up not to an alarm, but because my parents are singing "Las Mañanitas" to me. Yeah, because it's my birthday.
Carmen - Happy birthday, Hayden!
José - Happy birthday, Hayden!
Hayden - Thanks, Mom and Dad. The cake looks really nice – it's shaped like the number of my age, with decorations and fruits.
José - Darling, now that you're 17, we want to ask you something.
Hayden - Yes, Dad, what is it?
José - We want you to marry my friend Navarro's son, to merge our companies and make them stronger as one.
Hayden - What? I've just turned another year older, Dad. - I get up from the bed, surprised, or rather shocked, by the news.
Carmen - Honey, we've never asked you for anything. Do it for your future and ours.
Hayden - Alright, Mom. When's the wedding?
Carmen - Before you start school. When do you start?
Hayden - In 13 days.
Carmen - Alright, the wedding will be in 3 days from today. Tomorrow we're going to buy everything, and today your in-laws are coming over for dinner – it's good not to complain; everything was already prepared.
Hayden - Okay, Mom. And I'm going to invite my friends to be my bridesmaids.
José - That's right, daughter. And you can have a sleepover tonight.
Hayden - Thanks, Dad. As they leave my room, I grab my phone and send a message.
WhatsApp chat - Cheerleaders
Hayden - Hey, girls.
Julia - Hey! Happy birthday!
Alba - Hello! Happy birthday!
Hayden - Thanks, girls. We're having a sleepover at my place tonight, and I've got some news to share.
Alba - Okay, see you there.
Julia - Sure, see you later.
I exit the chat and head to the bathroom to take a shower. Once I'm done, I come back, pick an outfit from my closet for lunch – it's kind of late because I stayed up watching movies last night.
I put on black pants, a slightly oversized sweatshirt, my sneakers, and style my hair. I leave my hair down, apply a bit of makeup, and I'm ready. I head downstairs to the dining room because my fiancé's parents have already arrived.
Hayden - Good afternoon – I greet everyone.
José - Hello, daughter. Come here, let me introduce you to Mr. and Mrs. Navarro.
Hayden - Nice to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Navarro.
Mrs. Navarro - The pleasure is mine, dear. Just call me Anna.
Hayden - Alright, Anna.
Mr. Navarro - And you can call me Carlos.
Hayden - Okay, Carlos. I'm Hayden.
Carmen - Well, Anna, we want to inform you that our daughter has agreed to marry your son.
Carlos - That's great, as our son has also agreed.
Anna - When's the wedding?
José - In three days.
Anna - Okay, Hayden, when do you start school?
Hayden – In 13 days.
Carlos – Perfect, a week for a honeymoon.
Hayden – There won't be a honeymoon, though, because we're preparing for the school's cheerleading championship. It's on the second day of classes.
Anna - Are you a cheerleader?
Hayden - Yes, and I'm the team captain.
Carlos - Okay, but if you're going to have my grandchildren, you won't be able to be a cheerleader.
Hayden - I know, but I'm not married yet.
Anna - How old are you, Hayden?
Hayden - I've just turned 17. Oh, by the way, why didn't he come?
Anna - Don't be impatient; you'll meet on the wedding day.
Hayden - How old is he?
Carlos – He's 30.
Carmen - Look, honey, just your type. When she said that, I almost choked.
Hayden – Mom! Don't say that!
The meal went on normally until my parents and my future in-laws started talking, while I had a whirlwind of thoughts about the wedding in my head. My mother spoke the truth; I do have a thing for older men, but not just anyone.
After a while, lunch was over, and the staff cleared the plates away.
Anna - Well, thank you for the meal.
Carmen – You're welcome.
Anna - We'll be leaving. We'll bring the engagement ring tomorrow.
They said their goodbyes and left. I got up and went to my room.
(……..)
David
Hey, I'm David Navarro. I'm 30 years old and I'm going to be a math teacher at my parents' school.
Carlos - Hi, son.
David - Hey, Dad.
Carlos - Your mom and I want to talk to you.
David – Yeah, sure, go ahead.
Carlos - We want you to marry Panettiere's daughter. He's my best friend. We want to merge our companies to make them stronger.
David - What? But even if I object, I'm going to be married anyway.
Anna - Son, it's for your future and ours. We've never asked you for anything before.
David - Alright, I'll marry her.
Anna - That's good, because we've already talked to them, and we told them you would agree too.
David - I can see they agreed on my behalf without even telling me.
Carlos - We knew you would say yes. We'll bring the engagement ring tomorrow.
David - And when's the wedding? How old is she?
Anna - In 3 days. Today was her birthday. That's all you'll know about her until the wedding day; you'll meet her then.
David - Okay, and is there going to be a honeymoon?
Carlos - She doesn't want one, because...
(Anna interrupts)
Anna - Don't worry, I'll make sure there's a honeymoon.
(……..)
Hayden
I'm in the room with my friends.
Hayden - Hey, girls. Guess what?
Both - What? – excitedly
Hayden - I'm getting married in 3 days.
Alba - What?...
Julia – No way...
Hayden - Yes.
Alba - Who to?
Hayden - I don't know him; I just know he's 30 and he's the son of my dad's friend.
Julia - Wait, you're getting married, and you don't even know him?
Hayden - They want to merge all the companies, so I guess that's why. But I want you two to be my bridesmaids.
Alba - Count me in.
Julia - Me too.
Hayden - Tomorrow, we're going to shop for everything for the wedding. We spent the time singing, chatting, laughing, watching movies, until sleep overtook us and we dozed off.
