Kane’s POV: 

 

“Nadia!”

I didn't think twice. I jumped.

But I hit an invisible wall. A shield. Normally, I would look for a loophole, but she needed me now.

I popped my claws and hacked it to pieces. It took a full minute to break through—sixty seconds too long.

The world blurred as I plunged into the cavern. A red glow painted the rock, but all I felt was the blind panic clawing at my chest.

Stone cracked as I stuck the landing. I looked up, and the sight nearly drove my beast feral.

Carl stood over her, raising a sacrificial dagger to strike.

Pure fury spiked in my veins....
