For the first time in my life, I was at peace.
Nadia sat across from me at the dinner table. Her fingers hovered over the plate I had personally served her. A soft, hesitant smile lingered on her lips as she watched me. It was small, but it was real. And that was all I needed.
“You're staring, you know that, right?” she murmured, the smile firmly plastered on her face.
“I know,” I answered.
