"Nadia—are you okay? Did that thing touch you?"

I pressed a hand to my lower back, let out a ragged groan as the twins kicked with a vengeance. "I'm fine, Kane. Just rattled."

Kane knelt beside the bed, his eyes blazing with fury. "How dare they? Right under our noses."

"He clearly has fanatics lurking in the shadows," I muttered. "This was a warning shot."

He nodded, his jaw tight. "Sleep now, Nadia. You’ve been running on fumes for too long. I’ll pull the first watch. Derek is tailing Lyra, and the scouts are hot on her heels. We’ll have answers by sunrise."
