She enthusiastically met her niece who was eating breakfast,
"Good morning auntie!"
"Morning, Prissy!"
but she was in a rush and didn't have time to eat anymore because she didn't want her unpleasant manager to punish her for being late again. It's difficult to wait for the bus when it's already packed, and her lover Craigwon't even transport her since he doesn't want to get up at 6 a.m.
As she stood in line for the bus, her former college friends approached her. They now have great jobs because they work for a well-known company. She was brave enough to return their greetings, but they were uninterested and ignored her. She, on the other hand, made a mistake because they didn't greet her but the woman behind her, so she was embarrassed and they laughed at her.
"How embarrassing! You heard that, right?"
"Yes, I also heard it..."
"What's up, Miss Peters? How do you feel about it?" The other guy snorted and smirked so everyone made fun of her. She wanted the ground to swallow her because of her morning embarrassment, so the first thing she did was leave them and go away since she couldn't take any more of their taunting. She tried to contact her boyfriend, but she couldn't reach him and it's out of the coverage area so she dialled Jasmine's number, and her best friend answered right away.
"Maria? Oh, thank you for calling! I have a lot to say- "While speaking, she cuts her friend.
"Is Jewel mad at me right now, Jas? I'm running late..."
"Miss Jewel has not arrived yet, so it's okay if you're late. You need to take a bus as soon as possible because the Restaurant will have a big event tonight and we need a lot of people." Jasmine inform her.
"I need help... The bus already left,"
"Oh my god! Okay, I'm going to get you. You're lucky today I'm using my moto. We still have time!" Jasmine said.
She was immediately encouraged and happy with what her friend said, so she jumped for joy, but her shoes got wet when she stepped on the water, and she thought it had rained last night, so she was about to walk when a car passed by furiously on the road, and the water in the canal jumped on her, so she yelled in anger because all of her clothes were dirty and wet. But all he could recall was the licence plate number of the white Audi car that was speeding away. A filthy sewer is all that remains of her now. She wept out of frustration, and her friend caught up to her in such an act.
"What the hell is going on with you?" Jasmine asks her in a startled tone.
"Unfortunate...bad luck I guess." She murmured this as she wiped her face.
"Come on in, let's get going. Take this helmet and get into my back, and we'll figure out what happens next." Jasmine made a suggestion.
On the other hand, Arthur saw the woman they had passed earlier screaming furiously at them because the woman had the appearance of a dripping wet cat. The road was wet with precipitation and due to his driver's fast driving, they accidentally sprayed the water canal to the poor lady.
“Why is she mad?” he asked and turned his head once more to the woman who was fixing her wet uniform.
"Sir, a young woman was strolling down the street and it's not our fault.." The driver replied calmly.
“Maybe we need to apologise, what do you think?” he said without thinking and still looking at the woman afar while the car was going.
“Sir, the meeting starts at 9 am, do you want to go back?”
He shook his head while thinking about the beautiful island that he's going to buy. "Way to go...be careful next time," Arthur said in a low and deep voice and continued to read the magazine he was reading.
He remembered something so he called his secretary again to cancel today's board meeting because he had something important to do. He wants to contact the owner of the island he wants to buy in the future.
He felt a flash of irritation when he heard the voice of the woman he despised on the other line. "Could you maybe transfer the call to my secretary?" he asked. On the other end of the telephone, there was the chuckle of the woman and it was Marianne, his ex-fiancee.
"Arthur, whatever you're doing or planning, don't keep doing it!" She said and laughed.
"It's none of your business and you no longer belong in my life anymore so shut the fucking mouth of yours!..." He said then hung up.
"That was savage, sir." Said his driver.
"She's a headache." He said while smiling and thinking of his plan to buy an Island away from the chaos of the life he's in right now.
He wants to forget about the lady who prioritised her career over him; otherwise, maybe Marianne doesn't truly love him, or she isn't ready to get married to him. He took a deep breath and exhaled quickly, expressing his dissatisfaction with the girl he once loved.
He just wants a simple life right now because he's bored of being wealthy, and it's getting monotonous... he wants someone to love him wholeheartedly, not just because he's rich and successful.
When Jasmine and Maria arrived at the restaurant, their manager gave them a furious look, but they were quickly defended by the true boss of the restaurant where they worked, and Maria secretly grinned since Jewek was embarrassed.
"You need to work as a team, you know that Jewel? Being a manager in this Restaurant is that you need to put sympathy and effort into what is going on with your co-workers." Mister William said while looking at Jewel.
"I'm sorry Mister William, I was just carried away. I'll do better next time. My apologies." Jewel appeared ashamed since this is the first time she was being scolded by Mister William.
"That's okay...Jasmine takes your friend to change some clothes. Let's get back to work and be professional." Mister William dismissed them.
"Yes, sir," Jasmine said and grabbed Maria inside the restaurant and they started each other like they are the winner of today's work.
"Can you imagine the look on her face..." Jasmine said while taking the towel from her drawer to give to Maria.
"Yes, and I hate her for being so strict with us but that's plus one today, she's been in the hot seat," Maria responds by whispering so that not everyone can hear them and they both chuckled.
She would have reacted against Jewel, a harsh coworker if she had remembered this day, but she couldn't or wouldn't forget it, especially the white vehicle that made her clothes disaster. It's irritating, and it doesn't even come out to ask if she's okay; affluent people have no manners. They don't give a damn about the poor, so she just grumbled and went back to work.
"Hey, are you ready for today's tough work? Huh!" Jasmine asked her while smiling at the customers.
She straightens her bangs and puts on her old glasses before saying to Jasmine, "Let's get to it."
