I moved quickly down the corridor, my skirt gathered in one hand and my head tilted just enough to watch behind me. The last thing I needed was Marren or Tilly poking their noses where they didn’t belong. Marren especially. She always hovered like she was waiting to catch me doing wrong. She always was doing that.
