The first thing I noticed when I woke up was the silence. My room felt eerily still. My body ached dully, reminding me of last night. The sheets beneath me were tangled, half-pulled off the bed and crumpled on the floor.
I blinked against the faint light streaming through the window, my eyes catching the faint indent of where someone else had been lying. The other side of the bed was empty now. Empty and cold.
