Selene's POV
Nyx's tears slipped slowly down her cheeks as she stood before me, and for the first time since I had known her, there was no hatred in her eyes.
The crimson fire that had burned inside them for centuries was fading, replaced by a soft silver glow. The shadows surrounding her body were pulling away, disappearing into the darkness beneath her feet.
"I do not deserve your forgiveness," she whispered.
I looked at her carefully before answering.
"No one deserves forgiveness simply because they ask for it, Nyx. Sometimes it is given because someone deserves the chance to become better than the person they used to be."
