TESSA POV

"Malcolm is my fiancé."

The words left my mouth clearly, and for a moment the entire hall fell silent. I could feel hundreds of eyes on me, but this time I didn't lower my head. I had nothing to hide.

"Our relationship is approved by our families and friends. We live together because we are engaged." I looked directly at Soren. "I'm saying this so you understand the kind of relationship we have. It is formal, and we are engaged. Soren and Maya both know that, because you were there on the day of our engagement."

Soren's face tightened. Maya stood beside him without a word....
