RODEN'S POV:-
FIFTEEN HOURS AGO:-
It took me a few minutes to be able to collect my thoughts. I knew if I wanted to get what I have ever wanted, I would have to fight for it. My father did the same thing to his mate. His mate was a simple farmer girl. And my father used to be a simple farmer as well. Yes, he was not born to be the Alpha. But his dreams and his determination to fly high was way too powerful for him to avoid. He wanted a life of luxury and respect. Although, the former Alpha, my Grandpa, had always greeted the farmers with respect and always showered them with lots of gifts and extra money.
According to my grandfather, a farmer is the one that can destroy a pack by just sitting on his couch. If he sat back and relaxed, the pack would starve. If the soldiers would starve, the rogues or rival packs would take over our lands. That's why my grandpa and his forefathers were very sensitive about the farmers of our packs. And he took care of them personally. But then again, my father had been a greedy man. He rejected his fated mate and seduced my mother, the sole heiress to the pack's Alpha family. Everyone knew that the mate of my mother could only be the next Alpha of the Yellow Moon pack. After many tries, he was able to get into my mother's head.
My father married my mother a week later she realised that she was pregnant with me. Her mate rejected her right away after hearing that she gave herself to a man who was not her fated mate. That's how, my father became the Alpha of the pack instead of the simple next generation farmer head. But I was not like him. I valued my mate and the blessings of the Moon Goddess. I pushed myself back on my feet and ran after him. Thankfully, he hadn't gone too far. I caught him in the corridor that led to his bedroom. "Dad, wait! You can't do this to me. You can't expect me to follow your footsteps. I will never reject my fated mate. It's a blessing from the Moon Goddess." I roared at my father angrily.
My roars made my father turn around to look at me. The difference we both had between our thoughts was because of my grandfather. My grandfather was upset with my father because he seduced his daughter. So he made sure to train me like a true Alpha should be trained. "Well then, how about I kill her. I will get my men to take care of her. You will not be able to find a single hair of her hair on the face of earth. I will make her vanish. Now tell me, what is it going to be?" My father barked at my face and walked away with a smug smile on his face. As if he knew he had won this argument.
His words did scare me. That was the last thing I wanted. I never wanted her to get hurt. I couldn't imagine her getting hurt. But I also couldn't live without my mate. How could I reject the blessings that Moon Goddess herself sent for me. "If you are a stubborn wolf, don't forget that I am also your son. I am more stubborn than you are. I will mark her right away and ask her to mark me as well. After that, you will not be able to do anything. Isn't that what you actually did to my mom and her father." With a mischievous grin on my face, I walked away. I was going to give up on my fate that easily.
With determination in my eyes, I walked towards the door of the mansion. Two guards blocked my way as I was willing to step out. "What the fuck are you doing? Get out of my way. Let me pass." I roared at them angrily. But to my utter surprise, they didn't even budge.
"I am sorry, Master Roden. But we are not allowed to move. Alpha has strictly ordered us that you will not leave the mansion tonight." I shivered in anger as I heard the guards. My father had taken conscious steps to make sure I wouldn't do anything behind his back. It made sense why he was calm even when I denied his orders.
But of course, I was his son. I couldn't be beaten by my old father. He might have been cunning and mischievous. But I was his son. I knew how to handle everything around me. "Well, you alpha had ordered me to welcome his friend's daughter who is going to arrive tomorrow morning. It means I have to make sure her whole day is perfectly planned before her arrival. But if I can't leave, I don't have to do what my father said. I will simply tell him your names, Roger and Dan. And tell him that you didn't let me leave the mansion." I replied to them in a low tone while sighing in relief. I was a bit over dramatic. But I knew how to handle a few guards.
It was not a problem for me to take care of a bunch of alpha's guards. I was especially trained to take care of a bunch of wolves on my own. But I couldn't do it. My father didn't just threaten me. Before he told me about his friend's daughter, he made sure I wouldn't defy him. If I did anything against his will and alerted the guards, my father would signal his men to kill Cora without me knowing. I had to proceed with my plan with caution. Hearing my words, I saw beads of sweat forming on their foreheads. "That's a good thing. I am tired anyway. I am going back to my room. I will just tell dad that you didn't let me through." I added further as I turned around and began walking away.
"Master Roden! You may go. If Alpha learned that we became an obstacle in the alpha's orders, he would decapitate us. You can go and do whatever you have to do for the arrival of the guest." It was a bit surprising how they both agreed without even taljito each other. But who cares. I got what I wanted. With a poker look on my face, I walked away from the mansion. I hopped onto my sports bike and rode away. It took me a few minutes to be at the cabin of, mother Alicia. Mother Alicia, Cora's mother, she was like a second mother to me. As she was the woman who had saved my mother's life more than once.
I hopped off of the bike and went into the cabin. I looked around the place and frowned in confusion as the whole house was drowned in silence. I sniffed the air and growled under my chest. I was able to catch Cora's scent pretty quickly. It was a little faint but it was there. I followed her scent to the forest at the back of the cabin. My heart fluttered as I saw her sitting behind a rock. I sighed in relief and smiled looking at her. But my smile didn't last. A confused frown reappeared on my face as I found her doing something I wasn't sure of.
She looked a little worried. And also looked a little afraid. "Is that Latin she is speaking! I am talking about mother Alicia. She is doing something in the middle of the forest." My wolf, Xanus, spoke in a concerned tone. That made me turn to look at mother Alicia. He was right. She was saying things I didn't understand at all. And she was doing something. It looked like she was cooking. But I could say that she was not cooking a meal for anyone. It was something else.
"Was she not a werewolf, as mother and father have told us? It doesn't look like whatever she is doing, is something werewolves do." I asked my wolf in a low tone while I was staring at the scene in front of my eyes.
Suddenly, I felt a strong emotion from around. I turned to look at Cora who was crying. She stood up and started running deep into the forest. I followed her behind as I didn't want her to get hurt. She ran deeper and deeper. I called her more than once, but she didn't listen to my voice. "What is that? Is that her wolf? Do you feel that, Roden? Do you feel our mate bond getting stronger suddenly?" Xanus asked me in an excited tone as he and I both felt a strong pull towards Cora. It was stronger than ever. She stopped in the middle and cried in pain. I was just overjoyed looking at her. Not because she was in pain. I could never enjoy her pain.
I was overjoyed because she was finally shifting. That meant, Cora would also feel the mate bond. And since she was sifting, she could easily mark me too. Once the marking would be completed, my father would no longer be able to do anything against us. Her wolf came out more beautiful than I had ever imagined. Her emerald green eyes remained the same. Her wolf was pure white. As if the moon was actually shining on her fur. Her fur coat was shily like the moon. She was bigger than I had expected. Her wolf was twice the size of my own wolf. She had more fangs than any werewolf Alpha was ever given. There was a mark on her forehead that I didn't understand.
When I looked at her claws, my eyes widened in shock. Her wolf was not a normal wolf. "Is that moonstone I see?" My wolf asked and I frowned in confusion.
"What's the moonstone?" I asked him in confusion. Hearing my words, Xanus rolled his eyes at me in annoyance.
"Did you ever pay any attention towards the education you were receiving at the academy? You don't even know moonstone. Have you heard of the fact that once the moon was also a part of earth?" Xanus asked me in a low tone and I huffed.
"Well, yes! I have heard about it. The Moon Goddesses secured the part of earth that shattered many years ago and turned into our Moon." I added proudly.
"Yes! Well, the impact shattered a place. Moon Goddesses combined their powers together to combine those shattered mountains and glued them together with the help of their powers. While they were forming a round shape of the moon, a few shreds ended up crumbling back on earth. As they had absorbed the powers from all three Moon Goddesses, the stones became shiny and beautiful. Those stones are now known as the moonstone. They are found in many different colours. But the rainbow moonstone is rare and costly. Because it contains the powers of all three Moon Goddesses." Xanus finally explained everything to me in a low tone. I was staring at Cora's claws that were shining in rainbow colours.
"So, what is that supposed to mean? Why does she have moonstone claws instead of the normal claws?" I asked Xanus in a low and confused tone.
"You stupid hunk! You haven't paid any attention towards your syllables at all. The moonstone claws were said to be inherited by only the descendants of the Wolf God and Goddess. They say, to glue the particles together, the Moon Goddesses asked for help from the wolf God Apollo and Goddess Artemis. That's why their descendants were bestowed by the Moon Goddesses for their kindness. And the wolves were blessed with mates and the powers of the moon." Xanus replied to my questions in a low tone while staring at Cora's wolf. I was stunned to hear the whole story he was telling me. I didn't expect all that from Xanus since I didn't pay any attention towards the lessons I was given.
