I stood in front of the mirror, staring at the girl who was in there who didn't look like me. I had black eyes and I had shed a lot of weight following my mother's death. I had been inconsolable for weeks and I kept postponing the burial in hope that she would wake up and call me by my name, patting my back gently but none of that happened, instead, I was forced to face reality which was cruel and wicked.
