Evans Gelens, a member of the student senate who many girls idolize, stared intently at Jeanice. Feeling embarrassed, Jeanice tried to look in another direction and then tried to look at the man once again. Those sharp eyes were still looking at her without even blinking.
"Oh no!" Jeanice muttered.
"What?"
“That's bad! "I think he looked at me, did he realize that we were talking about him," said Jeanice, immediately sitting with her back to Evans Gelens' position.
Yolanda immediately glanced at Evans, and it turned out that Jeanice was right, the man was still looking at them.
“You're right, he's looking our way. Let's go away!” asked Yolanda, who also felt embarrassed.
"Good idea,"
Jeanice and Yolanda, who had finished eating, finally left. They spent time chatting in the college park and talked about the many things they had gone through without each other. After they were satisfied chatting, they finally separated. Yolanda returned to her house while Jeanice was still confirming what happened last night with the administrator of the building where she lived.
The building administrator said that the building guard dog was the one who howled last night. Meanwhile, the noise on the 6th floor was thought to be because Jeanice's neighbors were moving things. That's because there were reports from neighbors regarding this matter.
Knowing this information, Jeanice felt quite relieved. At least she knows that there are no victims of violence or crimes that occur in the area where she lives. All of that was purely due to her cowardice. She is timid and overthinking.
Jeanice finally returned to her rented building. She walked into the elevator but at the same time, someone familiar came up with her. The mess is that guy is Evans Gelens. He was in the same elevator as Jeanice. Of course, Jeanice became embarrassed, she became uneasy when the elevator doors started to close.
What's worse, once again those charming sharp eyes started to stare at Jeanice openly. Jeanice started to swallow her saliva, she seemed helpless in there with a pair of eyes that seemed to intimidate her.
Jeanice thought that the man must have realized that Jeanice was the girl who stole glances at him at the food court that afternoon. The sharp gaze became closer, the handsome face got closer, and he began to whisper.
“You didn't press the floor button? Do you also want to go to the 6th floor?” he asked.
Jeanice immediately realized that Evans didn't want to tease her or do anything strange to her. He just wanted to ask because Jeanice didn't even move when the elevator doors closed.
"Floor 6, yes, I want to go there," answered Jeanice haltingly.
Evans immediately looked away, his attitude was indifferent, and he didn't look at her at all anymore. Jeanice started to sigh as if she had just survived something ridiculous that embarrassed her.
The two of us in the elevator made Jeanice curious. The girl started stealing glances. She felt it would be a shame to be in the same elevator as a handsome man if she didn't get to know him.
“Are you from Theodore University? "I feel like I've seen you before," said Jeanice, starting to make small talk.
Evans turned to Jeanice, looking her up and down, but, without answering, he looked away again. He didn't answer her question and chose to ignore Jeanice.
"I saw you at the food court earlier," said Jeanice, looking for something to talk about.
Once again, Evans was silent. He didn't answer and remained silent. Feeling embarrassed, Jeanice finally became silent. She didn't want to be seen as a shameless girl who pretended to know her seniors.
The elevator took them to the 6th floor. The place was quiet, but now Evans was there, so Jeanice didn't feel alone anymore. The man walked towards the door right next to Jeanice's room.
“Hey, so you live next door? That means we are neighbors! So you were the one who moved things last night? Gosh, the sound even reached my room!” said Jeanice, who seemed to still want to try to be friendly.
Still not answering, Evans just took the key and started fiddling with his room key.
“Did you hear the howling last night?” Jeanice asked.
Evans stopped what he was doing, he turned to Jeanice with a strange look.
“I didn't expect the building manager to have a dog, he howled so loudly last night. I'm getting goosebumps!" Jeanice said.
Evans snorted as if what Jeanice said didn't matter. He fiddled with the room key again and went straight into his room without hearing everything Jeanice said. Evans even immediately closed the door without further ado.
“Hey, I'm talking to you! Why are you so impolite? So arrogant, you pretentious handsome bastard!” Jeanice cursed at the door.
There was no response, Jeanice was just cursing at the closed door in the middle of the empty corridor.
"That's enough! I'm like crazy! I'm a psychologist, I should have known that a man like him must be mentally ill!" muttered Jeanice, who finally decided to go into her room.
The girl closed the door loudly, hoping that the neighbor next door would hear that she was angry. Annoyed, she put her things away and immediately took a shower.
“I will never talk to him again! He's so pretentious. What's his name? Evans Gelens! Who cares about his fame? Unfriendly handsome men are just a red flag!” Jeanice grumbled while taking a shower.
The girl still looked annoyed, but after feeling refreshed, she began to forget her annoyance. Going to the kitchen, Jeanice started cooking a simple dish and ate it. Her mother brought meat that had been marinated and just grilled. The delicious aroma of meat immediately made Jeanice's stomach growl even more with hunger.
The meat, vegetables, and potatoes, with Mrs Wickman's special sauce all looked perfect.
"Luckily, Mother gave me a lot of sauce, so I didn't suffer too much," said Jeanice, immediately eating her food.
After taking a shower and feeling full, Jeanice immediately became sleepy. After having difficulty sleeping last night, tonight there was no reason for her not to sleep. Even if there was a dog howling or a strange sound from the next room, she wouldn't wake up.
At least that was what she thought, but in reality, after she fell asleep she woke up right in the middle of the night because she felt like she needed to urinate.
"Why did I drink so much before sleeping?" Jeanice grumbled, coming out of the bathroom with her eyes half closed.
The girl wanted to go back to her room but from the window, she could see very bright moonlight. The room was on the 6th floor with the surrounding buildings not being too high, making the place quite dark, and the light produced by the moon looked very beautiful.
"Full moon! Wow, it's big and looks very close," muttered Jeanice, looking at the window.
The closer she got to the window, the clearer she could see her next-door neighbor's balcony. But her eyes suddenly widened when she saw Evans Gelens climbing over the balcony railing with his eyes closed and his arms wide open. Jeanice and Evans' rooms were both dark because the lights were turned off, but Jeanice could see very clearly that Evans was attempting to end his life.
“He's gone crazy!”
Jeanice immediately opened the balcony door to her room and shouted.
“Stop it, Evans! Don't harm yourself! Don't jump! Don't do anything stupid!” prevented Jeanice.
