As Carlos’s voice sliced through the air like a blade, I spun on my heels and saw him descending the stairs in that commanding stride. He was wearing a black suit, his sharp expressions unreadable.
“Alpha!”
My heart thudded against my chest as I tried to explain, pulling my hands away. But Xander beat me to it. He replied calmly.
“Harley has helped us a lot. So, I was thanking her. We couldn’t have arranged a funeral without her.”
