Harley’s P.O.V.
My mind went blank all of a sudden, leaving me at the mercy of that smirking Alpha alone. I had a hard time guessing what he was trying to implore. The smell of aged whiskey and faint pine in the air was the first thing I noticed after Carlos’s statement, hinting towards the fact that he was already drunk. So, I spoke respectfully.
“What can I bring for you, Sir?”
Carlos let out a loud growl and sat up, thickening the air with his intense, dominant aura. It was like the room itself recoiled at his mere existence as he commanded.
“Alpha Carlos! That’s my name, princess. You can call me Carlos!”
A wolf-less omega like me couldn’t stand against his mighty command, lowering my head immediately.
“Yes, Alpha.”
The room was engulfed by deafening silence as I could hear my own frantic heartbeat drumming in my ears. It was the fear of angering an overbearing Alpha, which helped me calm my nerves and look up.
“Alpha, I ...”
Standing at a mere two feet away from me, Carlos gave me a mini heart attack with his speed. I couldn’t even hear his footsteps as he got up and walked here. My tongue felt heavy in my mouth as my gaze fell on his enigmatic figure, drying my throat. His over six feet tall figure was perfectly shaped with his black shirt. The fabric seemed to be stretched over his broad shoulder, the sleeves straining around his biceps. He unbuttoned his cuff and started rolling his sleeve over.
“Look, princess. I am not a very patient man. So, be good and leave the pleasantries. I don’t wish to drink more and miss the magnificent view in front of me.”
He ran his fingers through his slightly tousled blonde hair, making me follow his veiny hands. But it was a mistake. I met his intense gaze and forgot to breathe. Those piercing emerald eyes were sharp and predatory, sizing his prey. But they were strangely magnetic as well, drawing me towards him like a moth to the fire.
My pulse quickened as his piercing gaze glimmered with possessiveness, stirring something deep inside me. I found myself responding to his silent call, losing control over myself. My instincts screamed trouble, urging me to run away. Yet, the temptation to walk towards him was undeniable.
Carlos’s lips stretched in a victorious grin, as if he was pleased by my awe, puffing his chest with pride. But that damn smirk was like a blow of reality for my frozen brain.
Goddess, I had loved this smirk before!
The scenes of our last encounter at the bar flashed across my mind, reminding me of our agreement. Carlos was here to take what I promised him.
Fuck!
Shuddering uncontrollably, I took two steps back, tugging my short skirt. This revealing outfit wasn’t helping me to hide my chubby body.
“It’s the third time you tugged at your skirt, princess.” Carlos spoke as his voice was a deep purr. “Don’t blame me if I might start thinking that you are teasing me.”
“I-It’s not like that, Alpha” I froze mid-adjustment, my fingers gripping the hem. “This uniform is uncomfortable. I have never worn such clothes before.”
His eyes roamed over me slowly, like he was tasting me with his gaze. “You look stunning, princess. This outfit should be illegal with a body like yours.”
Calros’s compliment flamed my cheeks, catching me off guard. It was the first time I ever heard my praise in an honest tone. There was no double-meaning, no mockery, no comparison, just a plain compliment for me, moistening my eyes. I crossed my arms over my chest as if it could hide away that my heart was threatening to jump out of my rib cage.
“I am working. It’s my first day here.” I muttered under my breath, making a foolish excuse. It was unbelievable that I was burning for him, and he hadn’t even touched me.
Goddess, Carlos must be a wizard!
He chuckled at my excuse, stepping forward. Each step was deliberate and predatory. “I know, princess. It doesn’t mean I can’t admire the view!”
Carlos was in front of me now, so close that I could feel the addicting heat coming off his body. His hand reached up, barely brushing my bare arm, but even that touch sent sparks down my spine.
“You are shaking, princess.” He spoke softly, dipping his head, so his lips were near my ear.
“If you are willing, I can ask the boss to not disturb us for the rest of the evening. My woman doesn’t need to work.”
Carlos’s words were enough to wake me up from my wet dream, knocking some sense into my dense brain. I was an idiot who was entangled with him, even after knowing everything. Mustering up some courage, I spoke up, trying to sound firm.
“I apologize for what happened that night, Alpha Carlos. But that’s the end. I can’t have any relationship with you.”
Carlos stilled, frowning in confusion. He spluttered. “Why? Don’t you find me attractive?”
As he disregarded the basic issue, I reminded him. “You are my ex’s uncle, Alpha Carlos. If I knew it before, I would have never approached you. Please forgive me.”
It was my duty to ask for his forgiveness, refusing him after a promise was a dangerous thing. Moreover, I couldn’t be in the bad books of an Alpha after divorce. Xander was enough to trouble me.
Carlos was silent, looking dead into my eyes. Then his smirk returned as he spoke. “That just means that I am more experienced and have a bigger dick than your ex. Isn’t it better?”
How shameless!
I shoved gently at his chest, the rock solid, unmovable mountain of muscles, begging meekly.
“I am just an omega. It’s wrong. We shouldn’t ...”
However, Carlos caught my hand, holding it against him. “But it feels right, princess.”
His eyes locked into mine, the golden shiny orbs with desire and mischief. And for a heartbeat, I almost considered kissing him right there.
But then, I controlled myself and refused coldly. “No! You’re way out of my league, Alpha Carlos!”
Carlos seemed surprised, even so, he respected my decision and backed off, licking his bottom lip seductively.
“For now, princess. See you soon!”
He winked at me and picked his coat from the sofa. My heart was pounding against my chest as he left without a goodbye, leaving the door open. Riveted to my spot, I stood there confused, scared by my own wayward emotions. I felt attracted to Carlos although he was my ex’s uncle.
Shaking my head, I decided to go out and try my luck somewhere else, earning big tips was my goal. The debt wouldn’t be paid off on its own. So, I came out and saw Lena, she was serving a customer. She asked me in a hurried tone.
“Go to the corner table, Harley. That guest is wearing an Armani suit. You’ll get a hefty tip.”
After learning about my past, Lena was very supportive, fishing out rich guests for me. I thanked her and went to serve the next crocodile. Smiling cheerfully, I greeted the only man at the table.
“Here’s your espresso martini, Sir.”
He was busy on the phone, texting someone. But as soon as he lifted his head, the world around me blurred to see my ex. Xander’s thunderous growl echoed in the surroundings as he recognized me in a heartbeat.
“What the hell are you doing here, Harley?”
