Chapter 7 My Pregnancy

Chapter 7 My Pregnancy

Scott's POV

The doctors did not let me through the hospital room no matter how much I pleaded. I remained outside, pacing and panicking. I'd overreacted and I cursed myself for that.

I turned and found my dad and stepmom walking towards me. Before they could get to me, I walked hastily towards my dad, grabbed his collar and hit him hard against the wall.

"Are you happy now?!" I shouted as I gritted my teeth, "How do you feel making me do all of this, you bastard?!"

"Stop it, Scott!" cried Vivian, "He's your father!"

Calling this inhumane and selfish man my father only aggravated the anger I felt in my heart. I tightened my grip on his collar.

"I curse the day you became my father!" I said to his face but this man simply laughed and stared at me like all that anger meant nothing.

He said, "Do you not want to see your daughter and your dear Annabel again?"

Upon hearing that, I let go off his collar as much as I hated to.

"Good boy," he nodded while grinning, "So shove all that anger down your throat and get ready to put on your act when Annabel gains consciousness. She is yet to sign the divorce papers, remember?"

I tightened my fist as I pushed back the tears in my eyes. I'd never cried. At least since when my mother died and I found out that the man I call my father is responsible for her death.

I could not do anything. I could not fight like Annabel is fighting because he threatened to harm Annabel should I go against him.

I can survive anything but losing Annabel is what I cannot. I am willing to hurt her feelings like I have done over the months, than choose to never see that beautiful smile of hers again.

My father held my shoulder and squeezed it, "You've been doing good so far, son. Rest assured your daughter is safe and so will Annabel be. But the day you raise your hand to me again-"

He paused and added, "I will make sure that your daughter loses her life this time around!"

I knew better than to reply. In a few moment, he turned around and left with his wife. I faced the wall next to me and punched my frustrations out.

'"It's true. My unborn daughter whom everyone thinks is dead is actually still alive and was recently pulled out of the incubator.

I do not know where she is but from the photos Dad showed me, she is somewhere safe- as long as I continue to do his wish.

"Hey, hey, hey, stop it, Scott!" Nathan, my half-brother stopped me from further destroying the hospital's walls.

"Look, you're bleeding seriously! Why are you hurting yourself, Scott?"

How do I tell him? How do I tell him that his mother is not the saint she appears to be neither is his father?

"I know you're hurting so much," he said as he made me sit, "But physically harming yourself is not the way out of this."

He gestured for a nurse who came quickly with a first aid kit and administered treatment to me however I could care less about that.

Annabel is still inside the theatre, the doctor is yet to say anything. I was deeply worried. Losing Annabel is tantamount to losing everything.

Some minutes passed and the nurse was done bandaging my hand. Nathan sat beside me, also as worried as I am.

"Are you really going to push through with the divorce?" he asked after a moment of silence, "Do you really not love Annabel anymore?"

I ran my hands through my jet black hair and let out a sigh, "You know me more than anyone, Nathan," I said, "Annabel is the bane of my existence, she means the whole world to me but I can't be with her anymore."

"Why?" he asked, "I understand she's been delusional lately but divorcing her could destroy her mentally."

I cursed myself inwardly before I replied, "She's harmed Dad's image so much that it would be stupid of me to still keep her as my wife."

I heard Nathan sigh heavily beside me, "You could still talk to her, you know. You love her so much, Sco-"

"There's nothing to talk to her about, Nathan!" I snapped and then quietly added, "It's over between us."

Nathan said nothing more. Time passed and he received a call from the company.

Rising on his feet he said to me, "Text me when Annabel is awake."

I nodded and watched him leave. At the same time, the theatre doors went open and all the nurses piled out of the room with the doctor left alone with Annabel.

I jerked to my feet, suspicious of the movement. It's been two hours since I'd brought Annabel in here yet nothing has been said.

"She's stable now, Mr Davis," said one of the nurses who noticed my uneasiness, "Once the doctor is out, he will give you more information."

I did not reply to her, instead once they were gone I walked towards the theatre door and leaned in. Annabel was seated on the bed and conversing with the doctor in tears.

I couldn't hear their words but it seemed that she was pleading for something.

I etched in closer but could only grasp a few words.

I heard Annabel say,

".... don't.....them...to..to..about...my.. pregnancy.."
