Selena’s POV

Alpha was still staring at me with wide shocked eyes and I wasn't surprised because I knew that would be his reaction once he knew about me and Raymond. It had never happened before for a werewoman to have two mates but I was in that situation so I wasn't surprised to see him so shocked after telling him. Now, he had to fight Raymond for me and the pack.

I quickly realized that Raymond may notice how we were staring at each other so I quickly looked away before telling Alpha to be alert and he thanked me before he looked away hesitantly.

Raymond then went back to meet Alpha and he stood in his front, staring down at him with so much anger in his eyes that I couldn't help but wonder why he hated the alpha so much. I wondered if they had a rift in the past and Raymond wanted to get his revenge this way but the only thing I could do was to keep on guessing because I still didn't know anything or the reason why Raymond was even doing this in the first place.

I watched as Raymond crouched in front of Alpha, then he raised his head to meet his gaze before he gave a wicked smile.

“How does it feel to know that you've lost your power?” he asked alpha and alpha gave a short snort before he laughed.

“How sure are you that you have the power?” He asked , trying to rile him up and Raymond, being the temperamental person that he was, punched Alpha in the face right away and he watched with satisfaction how Alpha fell to the floor while groaning in pain.

After a while when the pain had probably subsided, Raymond pulled Alpha up from the ground to look at him and he slapped him again.

I felt myself wincing for alpha as Raymond hit him two more times and then there was blood on his face then he made him look at him even though alpha was trying hard to gasp for breath due to the pain from the punches and he smiled gleefully.

“You know why I’m doing this right? You should pay for what your father did to my mother” Raymond said and I got confused. Alpha’s father knew Raymond's mother?

Alpha, who was spitting the blood gathered in his mouth on the ground, laughed at Raymond's statement and he met Raymond's angry eyes.

“What do you mean my father Raymond? He’s also your father. I don’t remember him ever disowning you” Alpha said to him and I almost gasped in shock while covering my mouth as I made a new discovery, finding out that Alpha and Raymond were actually half brothers.

Did that mean Raymond could also be the alpha? Alpha and Raymond had the same father? Why was it a secret all these years that no one knew about it? Did that mean that the two half-brothers were both my mates? All of these questions swarmed through my mind as I just stared in shock while trying to come to terms with the fact that two half-brothers with the same blood running through their veins were my mates.

My head was spinning from all the thinking and I hoped I wouldn't pass out from too much shock.

I saw as Raymond's eyes blazed from Alpha's statement and he growled before he hit him harder than he did the other times that he hit him. He didn't stop this time. He kept on hitting him harder, on and on and I was struggling so hard not to intervene and stop Raymond.

When it was obvious that Alpha could either pass out or maybe die from the way Raymond hit, punched, and kicked him nonstop, I decided it was better I stopped him so I quickly followed my instincts.

Raymonds’s men drew out their guns at me as I stood up and rushed toward him then I held his hand, stopping him from throwing the next punch and his gaze shifted to me.

“You’re going to kill him if you don't stop Raymond, you have to stop please” I pleaded with him as he struggled to free his fist from my hold and after pleading with him for a while, I saw the fury in his eyes reducing and he wasn't breathing as hard as he was in anger anymore.

Relieved that I was able to stop him, I let him go and a guard led me back to where I was sitting and I just kept on watching Alpha and Raymond while listening to their conversation with rapt attention because I was sure that there were more shocking revelations to come.

Alpha who was laying on the floor all along finally sat up and he spat more blood on the ground before he looked at Raymond. His face was now all red and there were injuries all over that I couldn't help but feel sorry for him for all the hits that he had to take.

“Have you ever wondered why you could never be the alpha?” Alpha asked Raymond and when Raymond wouldn't reply, Alpha went on.

“You are an illegitimate child, a child born from a lowly maid for the alpha king and you grew up thinking that you had a chance at becoming alpha if you showed your father your worth? Some dreams are far-fetched and can never be achieved, Raymond. Just like your dream of becoming alpha.” he stopped to catch his breath and I sensed that he was feeling pains in his chest.

“It was a good thing father knew better. You are always extreme, going to any length to get things done which isn't how a leader is supposed to execute plans or orders and you also aren't of pure blood. You could never be alpha. You should be grateful I even made you a beta of my pack even though you never think anything through and just act” alpha finished what he was saying and Raymond gritted his teeth angrily.

He bent again and he held alpha by the collar of his shirt.

“Who is the one winning now uh? Because of your asshole father, my mother killed herself and you don't feel any ounce of pity? Don't you feel sorry or guilty?” Raymond asked, his voice now shaking and I watched while holding my breath. A lot was happening at once.

“That doesn't justify the fact that you're betraying the pack right now” alpha replied and Raymond pushed him to the ground.

“I do not give a fuck alpha, this is my time to get my revenge for my mother’s death. Your mother treated her like she was shit like she was nothing and she pushed her to the wall until she couldn't take it anymore and killed herself leaving me all alone in this world where I had to show my worth to be recognized but you had it all waiting for you. You had everything all laid out for you and all you had to do was grow up and take the title waiting for you and you expect me to be grateful to you for making me the beta? I never asked for it so fuck you! I’m going to take over this pack and I’ll show you that I can also be an alpha and rule too. I will rule way better than you ever have and you won't do shit about it because I'm the one winning now” Raymond said and I was just watching from where I sat. I had no words, and my mind was blank.

Raymond seemed so pitiful at that moment and I couldn’t help but feel pity for him even though he was the bad person there.

I quickly got rid of the new feeling that was about to find its way into my conscience and I remained in my stance of only trusting in alpha to stop Raymond from taking over the pack.

“No matter what has happened in the past Raymond, you should have taken your revenge on our father. I'm not the one who did all those things to you so why would I be the one to pay for it?“ Alpha asked him and Raymond who had had enough of their chit chat ordered one of his men to gag alpha.

“I would do what I want alpha. I would take my revenge the way I wish to” he growled and with that, he told the guards to drag him away. Alpha looked at me as they took him away and his mind linked with mine, telling me everything would be alright before they dragged him away and he was out of my sight.

I thought of his guards in hiding, I wondered how many they would be and if they would be able to save us if we were taken back to the pack, and fear racked through me as I thought of alpha. I was sure that Raymond was going to kill him and I couldn't help but wish for the umpteenth time that I could save him from this mishap.

I remembered his words, telling me all would be fine and I scoffed in anger. I was sure that Raymond wouldn't hurt me. I was the one that was even safe so I wondered why he was so calm when his own life was hanging on a thin thread.

I silently prayed to the moon goddess to intervene and that was when Raymond came for me and he pulled me up then he gently placed cupped my face while giving me a tender look but all screamed in my head was ‘FREAK!’

“You know I love you right? You can be with me now that we are mates” he said and grinned at me while I stared at him blankly… I wished I could just slit his throat and end it all at once.
