Selena’s POV

With relief washing over me that we had backup for security, I followed Alpha as he left for wherever the hideout was but we didn’t get too far from the tree when we began to hear whistles and footsteps and I knew that it was Raymond and his men immediately.

They had caught up with us and there was a very low chance of us outrunning them this time due to how close they were.

I looked at Alpha and he looked confused too. He looked at me before he placed his forefinger against his lips, signaling me to not make any sounds, then he pulled us to the back of the tree to hide, in the hope that they would pass by without knowing we were there.

We couldn't help but stand close to each other this time and I could feel his heavy breath on my neck as he stood behind me. Our temperature was getting hot again and this time, I could feel the heat coming from him too.

It was like his body was calling for me and I was trying my hardest to ignore what my body wanted dearly at that moment. I began to sweat as I panted to get more air into my system due to the heat but it wasn’t helping in any way.

I rolled my eyes in anger and frustration while enduring the heat because i couldn’t make any sound in my discomfort since we were in danger and I couldn’t help but wonder why the moon goddess had to do this to us in such a situation and i began to wish that i didn’t meet with the alpha even though meeting him would also guarantee my safety because this wasn’t what i had in mind happening between us.

“Just endure it for a while, this would end soon” alpha said after he linked his mind with mine and i just nodded in response before we went back to standing still as we heard raymond’s voice with the footsteps of the men that followed him.

They got to the tree where he hid and we heard them stop which made me and alpha share a questioning look, wondering why they stopped exactly where we were hiding.

“Did Raymond give you anything that could make him track you?” Alpha asked me through our mind link and I shook my head immediately in response while he nodded. I didn’t have anything on me that would give away my location to Raymond so why was he still standing where we were hiding? Did he know something else that I didn't? Or did he intentionally let me go to get to the alpha?

We remained in our positions unshaken since there wasn’t anything else for us to do to hide us better from them and then they began to move again.

Hearing their footsteps fade away into the distance, I breathed in relief knowing we were safe once again and I quickly pulled away from Alpha to reduce the growing attraction between us as I dragged in a long breath to keep myself stable before I looked at him and I saw he was staring at me.

I began to feel uncomfortable under his gaze so I looked away before walking out of his line of sight but I could feel his gaze on me like it wanted to burn holes in my back.

He finally caught up with me and I realized something. What about his guards that were in hiding? Would Raymond get them too or were they in a safe hiding place? I looked at him immediately with wide eyes.

“Your guards, what if Raymond gets to them?” i asked him and he shook his head,

“They are safe and Raymond won’t see them. We should be thinking about our safety and how we would get there without meeting Raymond on the way” he replied and I went silent as I thought if there was any way possible for us to get to the hideout without getting caught but nothing came to mind.

I was also clueless at this point and it felt like we were out of ideas this time. Even alpha couldn’t come up with anything.

I looked back at Alpha and I saw he was sitting back in the spot where we sat before we heard Raymond coming and that was when I knew that I had had enough for a day. We were in danger, trying to figure a way out of it and he was sitting down like he didn’t have anything to worry about. What was he thinking?

I stormed toward him angrily and I stood in his front with my hands on my waist while he looked up at me.

“Whatever you have to say, keep it to yourself” he said and I scoffed.

“You may be my alpha but i have to speak up when i can’t overlook somethings” i told him and he just ignored me. That made me pissed off and I decided to ignore his warning about us not making any body contact because at this moment, I didn’t care anymore about it. All I wanted was for us to get out of here safely to join his guards but he wasn’t acting bothered and it was getting to me.

His pack was in danger, our lives were in danger and he thought he could just sit like nothing was going wrong for him? I wasn’t going to stand back and watch him do that because we had to do something immediately.

“So what do you want me to do now? Make a scene and let Raymond know we’re here?” He asked me and I was surprised to hear such words from him. He had been my idol ever since he became alpha due to how good he ruled the pack and now he was losing hope? I couldn’t let him do that, I couldn't let him lose spirit in fighting because it was too early for that and I believed that we still had a chance of taking Raymond down. I couldn’t let him win.

“Fuck this, i’m not going to let you go down without a fight for your pack” i said and i grabbed him by the arm tightly. He looked at me immediately I touched him as he arched an eyebrow at me.

“I think I warned you that we should not touch each other” he said and I shook my head.

“I’m not going to let you just sit helplessly when the pack is in danger alpha” i replied, my hand still around his arm and he smirked at me.

“Did you really think that I'm just going to let Raymond win without a fight?” he asked me and when i did not respond immediately, he shook his head.

“You’ve been beside me for years Selena but you still don’t know when you should trust me, I’m disappointed” he said and I swallowed before I met his eyes daringly again.

“Then you should share your plan with me or else I won't let your hand go because I hate being left in the dark” I retorted and he sighed.

“I must give it to you though, you are really stubborn” he said and i just rolled my eyes.

My body was getting hot due to the skin contact but I didn't want to let him go yet because he had to share his plan with me and I knew he would eventually since I wasn't the only one getting hot due to our close proximity. He would definitely get uncomfortable and tell me what I needed to know so all I had to do was just endure the heat for a while until he gave in.

“You’re seriously not going to let me go?” he asked and I nodded.

‘Until you tell me what I need to know, I'm not letting you go. You don’t want us to touch each other and i’m not the only one who is going to get hot and feel the heat and want between us two so you would have to tell me eventually” i replied with a triumphant smile and he scoffed at me, making me frown while wondering why he was smiling and i was about to ask him why he was smiling when he suddenly pulled me against him and a short gasp escaped my mouth as i met his chest with mine and my eyes went wide.

I quickly tried to pull away from him but he held me by the waist, stopping me from keeping the distance and when I looked at him, there was a fire in his eyes that I had never seen before. Was he seriously turned on by me? At this moment? Was he out of his mind?

“What are you doing?” i asked him confusedly and he smirked,

“What does it look like I'm doing selena?” he asked and I gasped in shock as I felt his hand slowly travel up my back. I had to stop him even though my body wanted the opposite and I closed my eyes to gather my resolve before I looked at him and started to struggle so he would let me go.

“Let me go this instant alpha” I said and he raised his eyebrows mockingly at me.

“Or what selena?” He asked and I was about to respond when we began to hear footsteps again and this time, it was too late to hide from them again because we surrounded in seconds and the last thing I saw before I was knocked unconscious was Raymond's evil smile as he stared at alpha.
