We ate in silence and all of Raymond’s attempts to start a conversation with me fell on deaf ears so soon he gave up and when we were done eating, the maids came back in and I watched them as they packed up all the plates and leftover food with shaky hands before they rushed back out of the dining room and I felt bad for them due to what Raymond was doing to them.
