Christina ran a few steps, but did not hear footsteps coming up. She slowed down and looked back hesitantly.

Then she saw Emond leaning against the car, covering his head, looking very distressed.

Her mind went blank and suddenly she remembered that Anna had hit him on the head with the stick. She hesitated, then went back to him.

She crouched down, took his arm, and whispered his name, "Emond..."

He swayed and Christina panicked. She quickly got up and shouted, "Somebody, somebody..."

Before Christina could finish Shouting, she was caught on Emond's lips. She could not make another sound.
