We continued to hide there in the dark, crouched for another minute or two. The men didn't go back to check for the ashes of their fallen comrades, instead they got back into the car and zoomed off. That said a lot about them. 

But that was the least thing I'd care about at the moment. There were better things to do. 

"I hope the things he said aren't getting to you." Mia intoned behind me. 

I scoffed softly and turned to look at her. "Why would I listen to him?"
